India will host G20 Summit in 2022: PM Modi

Buenos Aires, Dec 2 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India will host the G20 Summit in 2022, the year the country will celebrate the 75th Independence Day.

"In that special year, India looks forward to welcoming the world to the G20 Summit! Come to India, the world's fastest growing large economy! Know India's rich history and diversity, and experience the warm Indian hospitality," he tweeted on Saturday.

At the closing ceremony of the two-day G20 Summit held here, the Prime Minister had requested Italy to host the G20 annual summit in 2021 and let India host the international forum in 2022, said an official.

Italy and other countries accepted Modi's request, he said.

Earlier, India was to host the summit in 2021 and Italy in 2022.

It was pure 100% congress effort to bring India into G20 group from nowhere. Now as per BJP's highflying claims of Demonetisation, GST, big economic numbers and NITI Ayog's uncensored statistics India should be in G7 group!?!?!?!?... BJP is only living on congress limelight. On its own BJP is ZERO.

Pity BJP by 2022 India will be out from G20 if BJP rule continues because of not meeting required economic growth and numbers. It is one thing to fool people and give concocted numbers to the public but G20 has its own calculations, rules and giving G20 status to countries. Trump has already declined invitation to be the chief guest. India found one African to fill the vacancy. Why French PM Macron not invited as chief guest he being a so close friend of BJP.
