Demonetisation a ‘shrewd scheme’ to help PM’s ‘suit-booted friends’: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi, Nov 8 (PTI): Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on Thursday alleged that demonetisation was a planned “brutal conspiracy” and a “shrewd scheme” to convert the black money of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “suit-booted friends”. On the second anniversary of demonetisation, he also said that there was nothing innocent about this “scam” and claimed that drawing any other meaning out of it was an insult to the intelligence of the nation.

Gandhi’s remarks came after former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s scathing assessment of the demonetisation exercise. He said the “scars and wounds” it caused are getting more visible with time and the decision’s second anniversary is a day to remember how “economic misadventures” can roil the nation.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley made a strong defence, saying demonetisation resulted in the formalisation of the economy and increased tax base, with the government earmarking more resources for the poor and infrastructure development.

“Note ban was a premeditated brutal conspiracy. This scam was a shrewd scheme to convert the black money of Prime Minister’s suit-booted friends to white. Nothing was innocent in this scam. Drawing any other meaning of it would be an insult of the intelligence of the nation,” Gandhi tweeted in Hindi.

    Through 'Demonetization' Prime Minister Modi wanted to make India 'Cashless' economy.

    In 2 years after demonetisation, it’s clear that ‘black money’ was neither burned nor drowned in rivers, as the PM had claimed. The rich have become richer and Narendra Modi has gone silent.

    Instead of 'Cashless' economy, Citizens of India became 'Cashless', farmers of India became 'Cashless' took suicide.

    Now on the instructions of RSS economic wing 'Swadeshi Jagaran Manch' now wants 3 lakh crores from RBI treasury to clear the mess and $150 Billion looted from public sector bank.

    Prime Minister Modi failed to run the economy the country. He should tender his resignation as promised in Goa after demonetization to correct the mess in 50 days.

    How can you believe in or support a man who
    1.Who stood in a queue for about 2 odd hours to get a 2k note and flew abroad later ?
    2.Who showed a Fata Kurtha at one of his speeches ,saying that he was poor and flew to Thailand some days later ?
    I mean ....how can anybody be so stupid and want to find support?
    I am really at a loss to understand....

    I am glad that those affected because of demonetisation, have openly condemning this ill fated demonetisation. Visit any building material outlets in manglaore and they will try to sell the products less than their cost price because they want to empty their warehouse. Such is the situation of the retailers.

    BJP made all theirs and thier buddies money white, they also raided opposition alleging tax evasion and unaccounted money through IT and hoarded that money and made white and added to thier account. BJP proclaims different in its public speech but its deeds are different altogether. Has BJP so far given total account of black money collected???. No, because all is converted into white and is credited to their account. Now BJP wants sole control of RBI to Loot and Destroy India.

    Even the Exit Polls are not indicating a clear majority for the ND A.
    However Congress is nowhere in the picture.It is for you to use your resources and
    the might of political acumen around you to strike gold.However,if you go on like a
