Atal Bihari Vajpayee mixed with RSS ideology like sugar in milk: Shiv Sena

Mumbai, Aug 17 (PTI): Shiv Sena said on Friday that former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a true ‘swayamsevak’ (volunteer) of the RSS who mixed with the organisation’s ideology like “sugar dissolves in milk” and his Hinduta ideology was never hidden.

An editorial in the Sena mouthpiece Saamana also said Vajpayee honestly tried to build relations with Pakistan, but even a gentleman like him was betrayed by the neighbouring nation. It further recalled that Vajpayee once said in the US that he may not be the prime minister tomorrow, but nobody could take away his right of being a swayamsevak, referring to his association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Vajpayee’s Hindutva ideology was never hidden, the Sena said.

Except for Shiv Sena and Akali Dal, nobody else was ready to support his Hindutva ideology and as a result, he had to keep issues like Ram temple and uniform civil code aside, it said. Vajpayee died on Thursday at the age of 93 after a prolonged illness.

Referring to a speech delivered by Vajpayee in Goa in 2002, the Sena said he tried hard to bring Muslims into the mainstream but his patience ran out. Terming Vajpayee’s death as end of an era, the BJP’s long-standing ally said that after Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Nehru and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Vajpayee was the most famous personality.

Crediting Vajpayee for formation of the National Democratic Alliance, the editorial said that it was because of him that “people with different mindsets and different faces” came together and formed the alliance.

As prime minister, Vajpayee built trust among farmers and increased their agricultural produce, it said. “Seeing the condition of farmers today, and a wave of their suicides, one remembers Vajpayee’s pro-farmer policies,” it added.

Shiv Sena editorial mouthpiece Saamana has double standard. It can openly criticize former late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
But In a shocking development, angry Shiva Sena and BJP corporators on Friday nearly lynched an elected member from the AIMIM in the Aurangabad municipality after he opposed the condolence meet for the former prime minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee is a moderate BJP leader and expedient mask for Hindutva ideology, a great poet and Shayar is misfit for politics with bad legacy of Post Babri Masjid violence and Godhra in his time is also dent to his image.
The frequently used expressions ‘Insaniyat (Humanism), Jamhooriyat (Democracy) and Kashmiriyat (Kashmir’s legacy of amity)’ were coined by Vajpayee as the 3 principals to solve the Kashmir issue
Atal Bihari Vajpayee, perhaps the only Indian leader in recent times who was respected and trusted in Kashmir across the political and social spectrum, is being fondly remembered in the Valley.
“I strongly believe, that Kashmir issue would have been resolved, if the government would have not changed in Indian and Parvez Mushraff, would have not struck in domestic issues in his country.
Ask any Kashmiri which Prime Minister they liked best and the reply will invariably be Atal Bihari Vajpayee He reminded Modi that he should have upheld “Raj Dharam” - over Gujarat riots. He attempted to resolve the Kashmir issue. He spoke a language of humanity. RIP Atal Ji!

    Mr.Shankar, BENGALURU
Sir,Don't bring the hypothetical figure if you don't know about Kashmir. It is impossible to give one temple name which was destroyed comparing to more than 500 in Gujarat riots.

For your knowledge there are many temples being cleaned by Kashmir's due to the absence of Pandits which can be easily available in google results.

There are more than 1000 temples in India from the early dynasty is in ramshackle state. It doesn't give any political benefit and votes so its left in ruins. Babri masjid is emotive issue and easy to get votes so it remembered before every elections.

You need to accept that The 'Laboratory of Hindutva' Began Experimenting During Vajpayee's Reign.
While the 'fringe' might have gone mainstream today, extremist Hindu groups began testing political waters by unleashing targeted violence against Muslims and Christians soon after the NDA came to power in 1998 under Vajpayee's leadership.

Vajpayee took oath of office on March 19, 1998. On April 15, 1998, a church being built in Naroda, at that time a suburb of Ahmedabad, was attacked. Policemen looked on as the attackers claimed that the structure had been built illegally.
Further, between June 21 and July 18, 1998, Hindu Dharma Jagran Manch (HJM) activists burnt churches in villages Singana, Lahan, Kadmad and Bhapkal in Dangs district. The attacks in Dangs were ratcheted up around Christmas time.
In the case of Muslims, weddings between adult Hindu women and Muslim men in Randhikpur and Sanjeli villages in Panchmahals became the trigger for violence in June 1998. Led by a 5,000-member Hindutva mob, the violence lasted for over ten hours. This pattern was repeated in June in Bardoli. There, the Sangh painted an inter-religious marriage as part of an international conspiracy to beguile Hindu girls and send them to Gulf countries as sex slaves. Gujarati newspapers faithfully reported this propaganda, leading to tension in surrounding areas too.
