Karkala, Aug 17: In an unfortunate incident that occurred on the night of August 15, at Garadinagara Nivasa near Kalya in the taluk, two young men, who were living under the same roof and who were relatives killed themselves by consuming poison.

Preetesh (24) and his aunt's son Naveen Poojary (28), both residents of Garadinagara Nivasa, are the deceased.

Reason for their act is not known. Preetesh worked as a receptionist at a hotel in Udupi and Naveen Poojary worked in the accounts department of a factory.

Both Preetesh and Naveen, who lived under the same roof, were more like friends than relatives. They used to have meals together and sleep in the same bedroom. On the night of August 15 also they had taken dinner together and went to their bedroom to retire for the night. However, within some time, both came out of their room and collapsed.

Though the family members took them to the hospital immediately, they could not be saved.

A liquor bottle was found in their room. It is suspected that they might have mixed poison with alcohol and consumed the same after the dinner. However, it is learnt that Naveen Poojary never touched alcohol as per the information given to the police by the family members.

A case in this regard stands registered in the rural police station here.
