Mangaluru: Rain fury continues in DK, low lying areas submerged in water

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Aug 17: The heavy downpour that is affecting life in Dakshina Kannada district continued to play havoc on Thursday, August 16. Low lying areas were submerged in rainwater and the residents near the beaches were scared due to the huge waves of the sea.

Kumaradhara and Netravati rivers met once again for the second time in three days at Uppinangadi. Because of this, the town area of Uppinangadi got flooded.

Students and teacher had a providential escape at the primary school of Government teachers' training institute at Balmatta in the city as huge tree inside the compound of the school, fell on the roof of the class where the lessons were going on. 28 students and a teacher were inside the class when this mishap happened. The college administration had requested MCC authorities numerous times to get this tree cut in the past, but their request fell on deaf ears.

The river bank areas on the left side of the Netravati River are in danger. The level of river water is elevated in Pavoor Ulia Kudru, Kottari Kudru and Ranipura Kudru and residents are spending anxious moments. If there is a further rise in the water level, around 50 families living in these areas have to be shifted to some other safer place.

Fishing boats did not venture into the sea due to the rough weather and huge waves. The main issue is the current of water at the entrance of Bunder.

Maravoor dam is overflowing. In the Masjid adjacent to the river, the water level has risen to a great extent. In addition, the inundation problem is noticed in areas of MRPL, old airport, Bajpe, and Todabagilu.

Thumbay dam which is the lifeline of Mangaluru city is filled to the brim and people living nearby are scared of flooding if the water level rises further. Areas like Jakribettu and Nandavara are already flooded.

Heavy rain along with gushing winds have been reported from Beltangady, Dharmasthala, Guruvayanakere, Madanthyar, Venoor, Suratkal, Kasargod, Kalmakar, Kollamogru, Guttigar, Madappadi, Devachalla, Nalkoor, Kamila, Panja, Balpa, Puttur and Yenekallu.

This is just a timely reminder from The Almighty to all those human beings who brag and feel proud about their self esteem and superiority either by their tongue or by their deeds/ actions.

This incident also teaches us a lesson about how helpless we human beings are before the Almighty and he is the only Praiseworthy; and He is the only worthy of Worship.

    Dear Friend,

Nothing man made can stay against nature's fury. At this moment of tragedy, let us encourage them to do some rescue/ relief activities rather abusing them. Nothing in this country changes overnight. Let us hope for good.

The MCC is absolutely deaf there is no proper footpath on the road leading to Bunts hostel circle. The signal also not functioning at the Joythi circle. What is happening to the tax paid ? The elected representatives only want to build concrete roads to earn some commission.

Water resource is an asset. Its Conservation and usage needs to be checked always. In future there will be wars for Water. So the political parties of every state must give importance to these real assets and hand over it to next generation by afforestation , management of wastelands to conserve it etc.

Curse of nature for stealing cows? Does nature have life? Why can't say instead curse from God for man made bad deeds??

If any calamity afflicts it doesn't see the Religion it will wipe out all. No matter good or bad people. So it's the duty of all good people to stop people from becoming bad.

Lead a life with peace and worship the Creator not any of His creation. when No CM, PM, or any worldly King can tolerate if any injustice meated to him, then how can God tolerate when we do biggest injustice to Him by associating partners to Him ??

God has given us brain let us think wisely.

First think about those who are suffering and in danger... God forbid the same happens in your place and people pass filthy comments rather than lending a helping hand... You will realize where is the level of humanity.... Pray that they remain safe and unharmed.
