Puttur: More than 300 vehicles stuck in Shiradi Ghat due to landslide

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (MS)

Puttur, Aug 14: It seems that the woes of Shiradi Ghat are never ending. Though the ghat was thrown open to vehicular traffic sometime ago, the fury of nature has once again stopped the movement of traffic on this ghat.

More than 300 vehicles that include buses, trucks and cars have got stranded on the ghat since the evening of Monday, Aug 13. A huge hill has collapsed at Doddatoppe near Maranahalli on the ghat on the evening of Monday. There were several landslides that took place on this hill till late evening. The mud that poured on the road due to the landslide was cleared late into the night.

After clearing the mud of landslide more than 300 vehicles arrived towards Shiradi on the early morning of Tuesday, August 14. However, there were three landslides that took place early in the morning of Tuesday near the temple at Gundya border, due to which the vehicles are stuck again in the ghat.

The personnel from Ocean Construction Company reached the spot and have cleared the mud and trees of the landslide that took place early in the morning of Tuesday. However, as per the latest report, landslides have yet again occurred at two hills at different areas.

It is learnt that landslide has taken place in approximately five places downwards from Kempuhalla and efforts are being made on priority to clear the same. The people who are stuck on the ghat since the night of Monday, August 13 cannot even communicate with others as the network is not available.

There is an urgent need for the district administration, all departments, volunteers and the public to reach to the people who are badly stranded on the ghat.

Only feasible way to save the planet is to chop down all trees. The faster the deforestation the quicker nature will start killing all humans. As long as humans exist there cannot be a forest. This is just the beginning. Good news is Nature is going to save this planet. Bad news is it will have to start by cleaning up the human infestation from it.

At the end of the day, you can't compete with Nature. It really doesn't care what economic bracket you're in.Nature tends to work with a wider array of lines than most architects.
