Mangaluru: Gurpur, Cordel parish bag first place in KNS inter-parish singing competition

Mangaluru, Aug 14: Konkani Natak Sabha® (KNS) here recently organized the 55th inter-parish singing competition at Don Bosco Hall for the age group of above 15 years for the different parishes in the diocese.

The competition was inaugurated by Fr Javahar Cutinha, Capuchin by lighting the lamp along with office bearers, vice president Sunil Menezes, secretary Judi D’Souza, assistant secretary Jossy Theodore and convenor Prem Lobo.

The competition was held in two parts - out of city parishes and the other for city parishes.



62 competitors from eight parishes took part in the out of city parishes for the solo, duet, mixed group and married couple. Gurupur parish bagged the first place, Fajir parish won the second and Bantwal Elyarpadav parish shared the third place. Gurpur parish bagged overall champions in children and elders singing competition with 53 points.

Among the city parishes, 65 competitors from eleven parishes took part in solo, duet, mixed group and married couple. Cordel parish bagged the first place, Angelore parish the second and Shaktinagar parish the third place. Cordel parish bagged overall champions in children and elders singing competition with 50 points.

Alwyn Noronha, Ivan Sequeira and Sylvia Fernandes were the judges.

On behalf of the president, Fr Javahar Cutinha, Capuchin welcomed the gathering. Raymond D’Cunha and Jossy Theodore compered the programme. The vice president announced the results. General secretary Judi D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks.
