Sullia: Sub-inspector leads by example, fills up killer pothole

Daijiworld Media Network - Sullia (MS)

Sullia, Aug 9: The hands that usually hold a lathi for disciplining miscreants and law-breakers, held a hoe and filled a pothole. This rare incident, which is being lauded by public, took place in the town.

Sullia police sub-inspector Manjunath took all the materials and tools required to fill a huge pothole near Peraje on Mani-Mysuru road and filled the pothole himself. The public who witnessed this selfless service by the cop clicked the video of his work which is now going viral on social sites.

Since many days, a huge pothole on the road near Peraje was causing inconvenience to motorists and also inviting danger. Drivers had expressed their grievance with concerned authorities. This news reached sub-inspector Manjunath. He took cement, hoe, pickaxe and other tools and went to the spot of the pothole.

The public was surprised when they saw the sub-inspector himself doing all the work of filling the pothole with assistance from his jeep driver. One or two from the public even helped the sub-inspector in this noble deed.

The concern for the society shown by Manjunath, sub-inspector of police of Sullia station, is being appreciated by one and all.

This is called "going extra mile" for the safety of the public. Needs to be complimented. It appears from the video that he is mixing cement as the top layer with rocks as the foundation. The cement mix should also help to bond the rocks together. The work done seems to be better than some of the work done by the PWD contractors.

The assembly constituency of Sullia is under BJP ruling since 1994 till date. The Sitting MLA Mr.Angara S has elected continuously from this seat may be six time in a row.
In India British era infrastrures and Mughal monumental building are still serving as government offices. But when it comes to BJP 'development' it only make sure it blames for the past ruling government to cover its failures.
This is one classic example that road in India turning potholes in every Mansoor as if India is the only place in the world gets rains.
The BJP government is busy with another 'Operation Kamala'. The local MLA who is looking for Ministry post has no time to visit his own constituency after he got elected.
I appreciate the law enforcement officer for his service to the nation apart from his responsibility.
The BJP party of difference is believed to be one of the biggest democratic party with 10 crores members. When party can send lakhs of volunteers to demolish 'Babri Masjid' , why can't they do the same by filling this potholes and save the life motorist?

What an irony of our country? people who are selected to do a certain job are doing entirely different job and deviating from the serious job for which they are trained!!
This foolish cop must have spent at least a good half day for this work. He should have informed the concerned authorities and at the most put a barricade with reflectors and caution at least 100 meters before approch to this pothole.
