Udupi: Kadiyali temple gate issue - verbal tussle between MLA and trustee

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (HB/MS)

Udupi, Jul 23: The administrative committee of the Mahisha Mardini temple at Kadiyali near here used to close the gate of the temple from 1 pm till 4 pm every day since many days. The residents, who reside nearby, are dependent on this access and they were facing issue due to the closure of the gate. So a verbal duel was going on between the nearby residents and the administrative committee of this temple since many days.

On the afternoon of Sunday, July 22, Raghupati Bhat, MLA of Udupi, was made to wait for an hour near the gate of the temple as it was closed. Many residents of this place had bought this issue to the notice of the MLA. On Sunday, Raghupati Bhat, who had arrived for the 'Kesarda Gobbu' programme, organized by the Kadiyali Ganeshotsava Samiti, got stuck and had to get the gate opened after giving information to DC and the police department.

Bhat, who was made to wait for an hour, took to task Srinivas Hebbar, president of the administrative committee of the temple, for closing the gate. Bhat warned Hebbar not to close the gate in the afternoon. He also said that it is not right on the part of the administrative committee to cause inconvenience to the public for an internal matter of the temple.

Srinivas Hebbar defending the action said, "According to the 'Ashtamanagala Prashne', it is not allowed to bring vehicles inside the temple premises. Earlier, many vehicles have collided with the 'Kshetrapala' of the temple and have damaged the same. That is why this action is taken."

MLA Bhat questioned Hebbar and said, "Whether this decision of the temple does not affect the residents of 50 houses who have to cross the temple premises to reach their houses?"

Hebbar retorted by saying that gate is being closed at Krishna Math also.

Bhat clarified by saying that "The gate is being closed at Krishna Math for security reasons and the order to close the road is given by the Deputy Commissioner (DC). If the district administration passes an order, then the gate of this temple can also be closed. Nobody will have any objection to it. However, if this issue has cropped up in 'Ashtamanagala Prashne', then alternative arrangement has to be done for the public and then the access needs to be closed. It is not right to oppress the general public."

Local people joined hands with the MLA and condemned the decision taken by the temple administrative committee.

Raghupati Bhat has assured the public that a meeting will be called within a week between the district officials and the temple administrative committee to resolve the issue.

We always hear the word called appeasement. Who is hypocrite. Those who cry appeasement and do the same when they come to power.
Temple has the right to protect itself from unforeseen eventualities and they are right. The vehicle owners can choose to travel little longer way rather the short cut through the temple premises. Why the MLA supporting these neighbours of the temple, at the safety of temple. Is it vote appeasement policy.

I have question to MLA Raghunath Bhat and temple neighbours, who owns land; can they give walking space to their neighbours which is shot cut. Like the way they demand from the temple. People always choose the soft target to show their …..

If the residents of that place have no rights of way on their Land Records, it is good to avoid using temple land and leave the same to temple administration . Trustees have taken word of Prashna Maarga. Sanctity of the temple can be restored when that space is left to the temple.

Abide the decisions of Prashna Maarga. Inviting MLA or drawing Govt. attention is nothing, but creating troubles for everyone including themselves.

Temple is a sacred place where many people go to pray and receive blessings. As such crowd management is always an issue.

The temple has all the right to close it's pathway, if it feels that public or those 50 houses residents use the pathway for their personal use only. Also wherever there is a religious place, nearby many commercial shops also crop up in the neighbouring area.

As long as the temple authorities have made a reasonable alternate path for those 50 house residents to reach their homes without much inconvenience, the temple authorities are well within their rights to close the main gate, as and when they choose to.

SIMPLE ISSUE...….NEED NOT MAKE IT HIGH.....
KADIYALI TEMPLE IS RITE ON ITS PART...….
    1. TEMPLE MANAGEMENT WILL DECIDE WHEN TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE GATE....
    2. TEMPLE PLACE IS NOT FOR PARKING...….ITS A HOLY PLACE....
    3. VERY IMPORTANT:
IT IS THE DUTY OF THE MLA TO MAKE ALTERNATIVE ARRANGEMENT FOR THOSE 50 HOUSES AND NOT TO COMPROMISE THE VALUES OF TEMPLE....
    4. PEOPLE CAN NOT USE TEMPLE PLACE FOR THEIR PERSONAL BENEFIT AND COMFORTABILITY....THEN WHY DO WE HAVE A TEMPLE MANAGEMENT?

No need of keep opening church/temple gate 24 hours. Please note that if Temple or church gate is kept open for 24 hours people will park their car inside the compound and go for shopping.... In Udupi the parking is the problem and how church/temple can keep open their gates and people will think that it is their right to park inside.

    Dev Kumar and other Bhakths,

These people always fight among themselves regarding places of worship. No peace at all. ( This is just sarcastic comment only to imitate the language of Dev Kumar. And I don't really mean it)

Why don't you give them your million dollar advices?

There is alternative road for the residents but they have to drive 1km extra. I know about this place and can show those who create the problem for the temple. I am supporting Kadiyali temple in this matter. It is better for Raghupati Bhat also to follow the official route rather driving on the properties of temple.

Special advise to Nawaz is there is enough fish available in river and sea. Don't try to catch in the troubled waters... :-)

    @RSRB, Sunjay,

I think you don't understand English. I have clearly written in my comment that I am just imitating what Dev Kumar would have written in case if this matter was related to other community; and even told that I didn't really mean what I said.

But both of you never got this much angry when your friend always use foul language on other people as if all his group people are saints. Why is he always giving communal colour to each and every crime.

My attitude is that I never comment on other's problems; unless it is given as a sincere suggestion; that too after knowing the complete background.
