Udupi: Impact of FIR - Navayuga Company fills potholes on highway

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Jul 18: Under the directions of the district administration here, Kaup police had registered first information reports against the project director in the department of national highways, and also contractors of highway construction, Navayuga Infrastructure. The administration had taken this step, having been fed up by the inertia owned by these parties, regardless of the fact that there have been innumerable complaints about improper road works and plethora of accidents on national highway 66.

Contracting firm Navayuga has undertaken the work of filling of potholes on the national highway on a war footing now. It also has taken steps to clear the dividers of weeds, grass and other unwanted growth.

Many highway users had complained to the district administration about the accidents occurring on national highway 66 because of unscientific four-laning work, substandard work, and insufficient service roads and crossings. Navayuga officials and highway officials had been summoned to the office and warned to take corrective action, but this step too had failed to evoke prompt response.

The district administration, noting the seriousness of the lapses after a portion in the middle of the highway at Muloor suffered depression, which also subsequently gave rise to collision of vehicles, had asked Kaup tahasildar to register police complaint against the concerned.

I travelled all over the world and I found some humps on the roads and proper warning is displaced near these humps. These humps near school or some residental places. No humps I found in high ways. I visited Karnataka and when I was travelling I found half road closed keeping some police sign without any warning on the road. I asked my driver and he told police keep these things to reduce the trafic speed. If someone new person drives in the night on these highways how he will come to know that there is half road closed by police in that high way????

It also has taken steps to clear the dividers of weeds, grass and other unwanted growth. - Good job! Hope they will maintain the divider plants throughout NH66. It is very important to fix drip irrigation to keep the plants alive. I feel sad when I see the plight of plants on divider out grown by weeds and country shrubs...... Rest of the world we see beautifully maintained gardens on read surroundings...! We are busy fighting on useless agendas religion and cast based politics., draining and wasting all the funds allocated for beautification. Anyone please observe condition of plants all way in NH66!! Responsible people deserve punishment if they talk on green revolution and vanamahothsava!!

This type of thinking we have to stop. When we dont have electricity we look at neighbors house and satisfy if he doesn't have. We should change our attitude. We are tax payers and the facilities should be as promised. If we pay late tax there is a penalty, less tax paid than filed returns we get notice.

So why we not get these companies accountable for the deaths and inconvenience? Stop paying tolls they will come in line. We have political, religious differences within our selves, so whole world is taking us for granted.

Request the Mangalore district administration to do the same with the construction company responsible for the highways in Mangalore.
For the toll that they collect, there is absolutely zero work that they do.

Why proper design for service road and intersections and all are not planned at design stage itself ?

and why not black list the company and award the work to some other competent contractor ?

all are getting the money under the table including the office people in NH department .
    that's why ?

The reason is pretty simple. It's not the entire fault of the contractor or his company. Half the problem lies in government allocating land and people giving up their land. By the time legal disputes are settled in our country, the half completed highway will start looking like unscientific work. For example, one can see that even now electric poles have not been shifted in Padubidri to construct the new highway for which the contractor can't do anything but sit and wait and wrongfully collect money at the toll. But don't worry, 10 years later the highway will look good.

    winston,

''Why proper design for service road and intersections and all are not planned at design stage itself ?''

This is india. Nothing we do is according to plan.

''and why not black list the company and award the work to some other competent contractor ?''

What is the point of blacklisting??? those who want to make money have made their money from the project including politicians.

all are getting the money under the table including the office people in NH department .
    that's why ?

    Yes.
