Ayodhya verdict may impact poll results: Asaduddin Owaisi

Hyderabad, Jul 15(DC): All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday said that it was better if the Ayodhya verdict come after the 2019 general elections as it would impact the results.

Speaking to reporters at party headquarters Darulsalam, Mr Owaisi questioned BJP president Amit Shah’s speech in Hyderabad wherein he had said that the Ram Temple would be built before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Mr Owaisi asked, “Are they (BJP) going to write the judgment? Why are they speculating on the judgment?”

When told that the BJP has denied that its party president has issued any such statement, Mr Owaisi said that it was the habit of the BJP to make deliberate and strategic statements and then retract. “Every media and news channel has telecast the news. I want to ask BJP and the honourable PM what they know that the country does not know. Is the SC going to write the judgment or is it the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s court,” he asked.

Mr Owaisi said that the BJP has realised this was the only way of polarising the people of the country and retaining power. “The writing on the wall is clear, the BJP is losing ground politically. To cast aspersions on the court is absolutely wrong. The Supreme Court is deciding on the title suit and the size of the matter. How can a ruling party president jump into conclusion on the construction of the Ram Temple? Every month, such a statement comes from a top leader of either the RSS or the BJP. It is sending a wrong message,” he said.

Mr Owaisi said the BJP will be defeated in both the Telugu states. “It will not have any MLA or MP in Telangana,” he added.

Regarding Ram Temple in Ayodhya, let me propose something which might look utopian, yet possible. The demand from both the parties is to have their respective structures at the same spot. It is possible to have that. How? By having two structures at two different levels!
The spot is believed to be the birth place of Lord Ram; as we know the birth takes place from the womb of the mother. Lord Ram being a God, his birth could be symbolically imagined as taking place from the womb the mother earth. Have the temple then, in the womb of the mother earth, i.e. underground.
He is also believed to be the Lord of heaven and earth, the Lord of all beings, all cultures, religions, races and nationalities and embraces within himself all structures of the world. Hence the Mosque could be allowed to stand on his birth place above the temple.. Let the temple be underground with an entry portal majestically built and projected to all pilgrims at a distance, say of around five hundred meter with a broad double road, fully illuminated, providing passage to the pilgrims to march towards the holy of holies and retreat. At the same time there should be half a dozen elevators directly connecting the external corridor of the temple for the use of priests, temple staff, VIPs and invalid pilgrims.
Let the slab over the pillars at the level of surface area be the ground floor for the Mosque leaving sufficient gap between the Temple and the Mosque. Let the entries to the Temple and Mosque be in the opposite direction with a high wall behind the Mosque separating the pilgrims to two shrines. If this suggestion is acceptable to both the parties, the best of architectural brains in India should prepare a world class project for the entire edifice.

BJP is famous for such double speak. The only way they can win elections is by polarising voters on such issues as they have a dismal performance of Governance put in auto pilot mode with the country drifting aimlessly. They have nothing to show case as their achievements of their more than four years rule and so the only way to mask their failures is to raise such issues.
