Moodbidri: Over 8,347 aspirants turn up at Alva’s Pragti

Moodbidri, Jul 7: A two-day mass placement drive, organized by Alva’s Education Foundation was inaugurated at Dr V S Acharya Vedhike, on Friday, July 6 at Vidyagiri.

Inaugurating the programme, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said, “Alva’s Education foundation is made benchmark in the field of education which is entitled with employment.” Quoting Chanakya’s words, he said, “Instead of lighting the darkness of the past it is wiser to light the cloudiness of the future. The mass placement drives like this would be a great opportunity, if students utilized it in true spirit.” Appreciating the efforts of Alva’s Foundation in organizing such a mass placement drives, he said, “This platform has brought the companies closer to the doorsteps of rural mass. It helped the graduates to find better employment opportunities, besides candidates gain masterful experiences with interview skills.”



Presiding over the function, Dr M Mohan Alva, Alva’s Education Foundation, chairman said that it is the passion that drove the drive rather than a just fashion. He said, “Our top priority is to give proper exposure and opportunities to the rural students.”

Srinivas Rai, senior manager, HR, ITC Ltd, Vidyaranya Kollipal, senior manager HR, Mphasis, Ganesh Prasad, Moodubidire, HR, UAE Exchange, were felicitated for their constant support for Alva’s Pragati over the years.

The fair has witnessed a participation of 183 companies, while 10,399 candidates made their registrations through online. Besides the spot registration by 972 candidates, a total of 8347 candidates attended interviews on the opening day. The second day of the fair will be meant for final round of selection for all candidates making selection process end to end. Premier companies like Oracle, Ajax Fiori Pvt Ltd, Innova Diesel Generators Pvt Ltd, Wipro, Mphasis and Codecraft
Technologies made the initial round of interviews in first day and final round will be accomplished in second day of the fair.

Two LED screens had been erected at the centre, with related information screened on the same for the benefit of aspiring candidates. Employability enhancement centres have been temporarily set up at Nudisiri Vedike, to provide proper career guidance.

Former minister K Abhaychandra Jain, Alva’s Education Foundation Trustee and former minister Amarnath Shetty were present among others.
