J&K decision to help state, country: Yogi Adityanath

Gorakhpur, Jun 20 (PTI): Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday termed the BJP's decision to pull out of the coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir as a step in favour of the state and the country.

"From the past three years, continuous efforts were being made to work for the people and according to their wishes. Today the BJP central leadership, after taking the deputy CM, ministers, MLAs and local leaders in confidence, pulled out of the BJP-PDP alliance," he said.

"I think the BJP has taken a big step in favour of the country and J&K," he told reporters here.

He said the BJP-led government at the Centre had made a lot of effort for Jammu and Kashmir.

"A massive flood had hit J&K three years ago and Indian army's work there was remarkable. Prime Minister Modi went there and celebrated Diwali with soldiers, and the central government also provided a lot of help," he said.

The chief minister held a review meeting at the circuit house here with local officials and inspected the Ramgarh Lake.

He also hoisted a 100-foot tricolour installed near the gate of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University by a voluntary organisation.

    Worries About Election Prospects Drove BJP to Pull the Plug on J&K Coalition.
    The BJP was increasingly feeling that ahead of the parliamentary polls, tension was building against the party in Jammu and across the country for yielding to the PDP’s “soft separatism and Kashmir centric politics”.
    While the J&K Coalition of Civil Society (JKCCS), a human rights group, in its annual report has put the total number of killings in 2016 at 383 including 145 civilians, 138 militants and 100 security forces, the next year witnessed around 387 causalities. These included 207 militants, 93 forces personnel and 87 civilians. In the first five months of this year, more than 138 persons, including 67 militants, 41 civilians and 31 security personnel, have lost their lives in militancy-related incidents.
    The BJP decision was “very calculated” ,for the party would have wanted to have adequate time before the Lok Sabha polls and elections in some other states to sell the move as a “sacrifice for national interest”.
    At least four states – Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan – are going to the polls between December this year and January 2019. While the BJP is in power in three of these states, it has been losing popularity among voters and some allies have already left it different states.
    The national parties have often used Kashmir as a laboratory to see through their experiments at larger level. And this seems one such move wherein the BJP would now try to cash in on its divorce to PDP for the so called nationalistic cause.
    This alliance ended only after deepening polarisation between Jammu and Kashmir regions and different communities.
    The decision of the BJP to withdraw from the coalition is fraught with danger of creating greater political instability in J&K and signifies total political failure of party’s approach towards the state,”. The BJP was equally responsible for contributing to the prevailing situation in the state.

    Governor's rule was imposed in the early 1990s also when the problem started. What difference will it make now? Will it bring about a lasting solution to the ongoing problems?

    If Modi went to Kashmir, he went as the PM and used revenue from the government coffers, did not give his personal cheque. UP also was given similar support when Kedarnath was flooded when UPA was ruling. Please do not beg for credit on personal account when one is actually doing his duty as a leader of the nation.

    By coming out of alliance in Kashmir you have nothing to boast about because Kashmir was one big topic BJP was propagating that it can bring solution to the problem which Congress failed to do in so many years. Well, Congress did not fail, it kept matters going in a better way. It managed it for so many years. You guys could handle it for just three years.

    Same thing goes to your accusation about 'what did Congress achieve in 70 years of independence'. BJP will disappear after it complete its one term just as NDA did it under ABV. You can't rule India with your communal mindset - India needs a government that rules on the basis of secular policy. Your fake 'Sab ka saath' but in reality 'Only Hinduon ka Saath' will never succeed.

    truth be spoken, the previous government pandered to Pakistan by allowing the hurriat leaders always running to to Pakistan and taking their advise. The present government has put it's foot down with that absurd practice. Kashmir is India's internal problem and any acts of treason should be dealt firmly.

    Now Bjp has scuttled the jk coalition but cannot escape for the tragedy.It seems they want to use Kashmir as part of its election strategy for the next Lok Sabha elections rather the party have anything more in mind than a straight forward military operation in the Valley.
    They should take into consideration of kashmiri peoples plight also. Why this move has taken place after 3 years? and Why only after making scape goats of shujat and aurangzeb? Many such questions to be answered.
