Bengaluru: Congress to set parameters for selection of aspirants as ministers

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, May 27: As the Congress high command has been approached by a large number of candidates seeking ministerial berths, the party, it is said, is thinking of spelling out parameters based on which legislators would be picked as ministers. Caste calculations, representation to different regions, etc are expected to play a decisive role in deciding the eligibility of a person to become minister.

Congress leaders, Siddaramaiah, deputy chief minister, G Parameshwar, and former minister, D K Shivakumar, along with some other important leaders took a flight to New Delhi on Saturday May 26 to hold discussions on these issues with the central leadership of the party.

Congress national president Rahul Gandhi

The state leaders, it is learnt, are in a fix on account of too many candidates bringing pressure on them for a place in the state cabinet. Therefore, it was decided that the high command of the party would take a decision. It is said that several state leaders of the Congress do not fully endorse the shortlist of legislators prepared for the exercise. The time-tested formula based on caste, regional representation, and potential of the candidate are likely to come into play now. Added to this, there is pressure to accommodate significant number of women candidates in the ministry.

Another factor that needs to be taken care of, is that the coalition between Congress and JD(S) needs to work smoothly without any friction between leaders from both the parties. This is particularly important because Lok Sabha election is a year away from now. Several MLAs met Parameshwara on Saturday morning to lobby for ministerial positions. Parameshwar said that the news about him seeking specific portfolio like home, are false.

Karnataka chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, will reach New Delhi on Sunday to hold discussions with Congress leadership, duly armed with a list of people who are planned to be sworn in as ministers. As per the list prepared by JD(S), it is said Vokkaliga leaders will take the cake. It is not clear whether BSP's N Mahesh from Kollegal will be made a minister by JD(S) as it had entered into understanding with BSP for the election.

On Saturday morning, Kumaraswamy had confessed that there were some obstacles over allotment of specific portfolios. Asserting that this issue is not too serious, he said the cabinet expansion will happen once the Congress gets its list approved from top leadership.

Congress high command is also expected to finalize the candidate for the post of its Karnataka state president in place of Dr G Parameshwar, and candidates for the Legislative Council election to be held on June 11 in which Congress can field four candidates.

Again Congress is playing the communal card here. The first Parameter for giving Ministerial Berth is CASTE. Point to be noted. No one in Congress cares about the person's qualification to handle the posts. DIRTY POLITICS of CONGRESS. Thank GOD India got a great leader like Narendra Modi to put an end this dirty politics of CONGRESS. Long live Modi. Jai Hind

Since politics does not respect ability and honesty, it is useless to break our head. Even BJP is not only full of criminals, but also silently working to grab power and help a select few become rich. Poor masses become poorer each day.

BJP and Amit Shah were completely fooled in Karnataka. All thought that if Congress has the opportunity to form government then Siddu would surely become CM. They were in for a massive shock when Cong joined hands with JDS and offered CM post to Kumaraswamy.
Similar thing can or will happen in LS 2018/2019. BJP and their bhakts will be so obsessed with an opposition PM face thinking that Rahul Gandhi is certainly the person and will poke fun as usual and then if the results show that the opposition alliance have enough seats to form the govt. a completely new PM face could emerge from the opposition. So BJP and their bhakts can continue poking fun all they want. Modi and BJP are going to get booted out in the next LS elections. Opposition is intent on keeping Modi and BJP out of power, PM or no PM and who knows blind bhakts may get their wish fulfilled if Rahul Gandhi becomes PM. That day burnol and hajmola will sell out all India in one hour ?

Rahul Gandhi is a excellent leader in par with Nehru, after Nehru if any good leader congress has ever produced, ie Rahul Gandhi. Because of him and his excellent speeches in Karnataka, congress has secured more than 70 seats and where ever he delivered his speech, has made tremendous change in the minds of the people, his delivery of speech its self is very effective. In 2019 India will elect him as the PM.

Ha Ha Ha. Harish,, are you being sarcastic? 16 Cong ministers lost their seats with a huge margin. The CM lost his home town Chamudeshwari with record breaking margin. In another CM managed just to win. Look at SK, Mangalore, All the Congis were trashed to pulp. Some of them have to bid their careers good bye. All these consituencies including Mangalore, Bantwal Udupi RG campaigned in full flow and gifted BJP a thumping well deserved victory. Do you still see a potential in him? The only option for RG now is to join some 'alliance' and play second fiddle to a regional party just to survive.

Rahul Gandhi is a able leader, he solve this issue efficiently without any help. He is the only efficient and effective leader in congress. If congress come to power in 2019, it is because of Rahul Gandhi.
Recently in Karnataka Election congress could get 70+ seats because of Rahul Gandhi. Where ever he delivered his speech , were very effective speeches. I think after Nehru, a very able leadership in congress, i.e Rahul Gandhi.

Now it is end of congress in Karnataka. This government will run only for few months and then again election. End looser citizens of Karnataka 5 crore they spent for to protect their MLA's. Congress leaders does not have common sense being 2nd leading seats they won should take chief minister position. These two Dewe Gouda and Kumaraswamy they are the opportunists.

Congress forgot Vallabhabhai Patel, Subhash Chandra Bose, Ambedkar who really built Congress in grass root, that too without giving any opportunity. BJP given them real respect.

BJP went for election under Advani in year 2009. Is that not enough?

By the way, the person never voted for the party Advani belongs, is showing sympathy to Advani..:-) if have guts, let congress agree the ideology of Advani.
