Puttur, Apr 26: Shamsher Khan (50), who is accused of sexually harassing a minor girl, injured himself by banging his head against the iron rods of the cell in police custody. This incident occurred at the town police station here on the morning of Wednesday, April 25.
The accused was arrested on the night of Tuesday for sexually harassing a minor girl continuously for a year and case under POCSO was registered against him. When he was in the cell, he started to bang his head against the iron rods and suffered injury on his head. He was given necessary medical treatment and was produced to the court in the evening of Wednesday.
The case against the accused stands registered under column 4, 8, 12 of POCSO Act and IPC sections 376(1) and 376 (C).
Details of the crime
Shamsher Khan used to touch the girl's body and do such other things with her against her wishes, show her video clips of sexual indulgence on his cellphone, and harassed her by various means. When the girl showed resistance, he is said to have kicked the girl and also burnt her skin with bidi stubs. The girl reportedly was threatened by him. He allegedly told her that she will be made to consume sleeping pills, he would harass her sexually and would circulate this video to others.
Reportedly, he also threatened to kill her if she did not cooperate with him.
On April 17 this year, the man made sexual advances all of a sudden at around 11.30 pm when the girl was asleep. Even though she resisted, he is said to have forcibly thrown himself upon her and sexually offended her against her will.
Shamsher was arrested on April 24.
