Fearing defeat? Yeddyurappa decides not to field son in Varuna against CM's son

Daijiworld Media Network - Nanjangud

Nanjangud, Apr 23: In a suprise move, the BJP has at the last minute decided not to field party state president B S Yeddyurappa's son Vijayendra from Varuna constituency.

All this while, the BJP had maintained that Vijayendra would be taking on chief minister Siddaramaiah's son Dr Yathindra in Varuna. Vijayendra himself had expressed confidence of contesting from the constituency.

However, on Monday April 23, Yeddyurappa said in a BJP rally here that his son would not be contesting from Varuna, and another BJP party worker would be given the opportunity in his place.

Soon after, BJP workers rose up in protest and clashes ensued, with angry workers throwing chairs that were on the dais. They demanded that Vijayendra be given the ticket.

The police intervened and resorted to lathi charge to control the situation.

The sudden change in the candidate has come as surprise for all. Sources claim that as Varuna is a strong Congress bastion, Yeddyurappa may have sensed defeat and decided not to risk his son political future when he's making his debut. Varuna is also the constituency presently being held by Siddaramaiah.

BJP state President BS Yeddyurappa told an audience in Mysuru on Monday that his son won’t be the contestant from Varuna constituency in the district and instead a local party functionary would get the ticket.

The announcement was met with dismay from his followers, who started flinging chairs at the venue. Vijayendra's followers began shouting slogans against BJP national President Amit Shah and the Karnataka election-in charge Ananth Kumar. "Down down Amit Shah," the protestors yelled.

As someone from the forum is rightly predicted in what appears to be a setback for BS Yeddyurappa, the list of seven candidates announced by the BJP central leadership does not include the name of sitting Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Shobha Karandlaje and his son BY Vijendra.
A clear signal for former CM Yeddyurappa it is the end of his story.
It should be noted that CBI special court acquitted former Karnataka chief minister and state BJP president BS Yeddyurappa his two sons, a son-in-law, steel major JSW Steel and four Bellary-based JSW Steel affiliates were accused of criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery and corruption in the case.
As per the internal information that the party may field former IPS officer Revanna Siddaiah, a Lingayt strongman from Varuna, who defected to the BJP two days ago.

As aspected and nothing special. Yeddiji it is very easy to comment from the back seat. But fact is Fact and Karnataka public is not so stupid to vote again to corrupt leaders. Siddu has probed in last 5 years he is more capable and strong leader by completing his 5 years tenure and I am sure you will retain the seat for next 10 more years for sure. Better luck next time Varuna.

True soldiers never run away from battlefield. Yeddy is developing cold feet as elections are coming near. His last chance to survive in politics is in the hand of voters. They will give a good farewell party to him.

Why presuming that this move is due to fear?

This is congress's last state in the south. It is obvious that BJP is not the party which should be fearing anything?

Congress has everything to lose in this election.
