Ramanagara, Apr 9: Four persons including two children drowned in the pond of Nagappa temple in Chikkenahalli in the taluk on Sunday April 8. However, exact reasons behind these deaths are not known.

The deceased are identified as Suma (26) and Shekhar (32) couple from Hanumanthanagar in Channapatna, and children of Shakuntala and Raju couple from Chikkenahalli, Hamsa (12), and Dhanush (8).

Suma and Shekhar had got married about one and half months back. On invitation, they had come here on a visit to the house of their relative in Chikkenahalli. They had come here two days back. On Sunday afternoon, they had visited Nagappa temple along with the two children of their relatives.  It is guessed that one among them must have accidentally fallen into the pond, and the others would have died when trying to save one another.
