Students block railway tracks in Mumbai, demand jobs

Mumbai, Mar 20 (PTI): Scores of agitated students demanding jobs in railways today blocked rail traffic, including suburban services between Matunga and Dadar stations, causing difficulties to lakhs of commuters, a Central Railway official said.

The students blocked the rail track at 7 am in the morning, forcing railway to stop the suburban as well as express train in the affected section between Matunga and CSMT.

Entire four lines are affected between Matunga and CSMT. Police and railway official are having talks with them, the official said.

"There has been no recruitment since last four years. We are struggling from pillars to post. Over 10 students have committed suicide. We cannot let such things happen," a student who was part of the protest said.

"We will not budge from here until and unless Railway Minister Piyush Goyal come and meet us. Our several prayers made to DRM (Divisional Railway Manager of Mumbai Division) have failed," another student said.

"Mumbai police along with GRP and RPF jawans are having talks with the students and railway's first priority was to clear the track first," Chief PRO of Central Railway Sunil Udasi said.

Students shouting slogans against railways held a placard in their hands demanding one-time settlement from GM quota and said that they demand jobs from government.

People here think , that these students are usual high school and college students. No, these students (majority of agitating) are mainly those who have cleared the railway apprentice exams. Their arguments is even after passing from 2014, they are not absorbed up to now Generally RPF clears such blockage within minutes, but the present one is most deserving and the RPF is sympathetic towards them.

Modiji should understand that people are not fools to eat bhashanas everytime!. Initially it looks great but when people realize slowly that this government is deceiving then the fall from top will be more quicker than the rise to top!. That's why its said, 'reaching top is no big deal but to retain that position is more difficult'!!!. Just advertising that you work 16-18 hours is of no use when people are suffering!

Amazing bankruptcy of the younger generations. They think one fine morning when they wake up after a late night bash with friends, they should have an appointment letter for a Govt job waiting to be delivered to them at their home address. I dare say this does not happen in any country in the world, least of all in an Asian country. There is no short cut; you got to prove yourself for any job big or small. We got three sons, today they are well placed by their own merit. Not by class or caste reservations not because of their parents efforts, certainly not by agitations or by burning public property. They studied hard went through a competitive process & today they are motivating their children to do likewise. Bottom line Politicians please do NOT misguide the younger generations by MISGUIDING & PROVOKING them to an agitational approach. For your short term selfish gains you are ruining INDIA !!!!!

Unemployment at the peak. if government is not taken any step it will be revolutionary steps by students all over India. Just wrong promises without new opportunity to job creation can not be tolerated for a long. Our readers may be remembering how the previous BJP government before their fall ,spent crores of rupees for" India is shining, although nothing they achieved. Now modi will come out with such slogans again by spending government money on advertisement ACHE DIN AGAYE.' or MERA BHARAT BADAL RAHA HAi. Because already 4 years are wasted by BJP just to spread hatred among people on community and religions line.No development, economy is down, unemployment increased, relation with neighboring countries spoiled big scamsters are given green channel exit.

I also had no job opportunity after pursing my education.
But had agriculture as my job for long period.
When i had a good opportunity for job i left agriculture and ventured into job.
No time, No place filled with immediate job, but we have to wait for suitable time, meanwhile have to engage ourselves with some alternative time being jobs.

Right. Selling pakoda is also a good choice :D

Nevertheless, when the recruiter ask about job experience or what someone was doing after graduation, it might not impress if he says pakoda selling. They must be looking out for someone who has either completed his studies recently or have some experience in the similar field.
