Kuwait: KCWA holds ‘Cricket Cup’ for members

Kuwait, Mar 3: Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA) held ‘Cricket Cup 2018’ on Friday, March 2 at Trinity & RCC grounds, Sulaibikhat. The tournament was held for Regular and Veterans. As many as 11 teams (Regulars) and 4 teams (Veterans) participated in the tournament, which was held exclusively for KCWA members. Over 200 members took part in the event.

All together 16 matches were played. In the final match held for Regulars, Shirva Welfare Association Kuwait (SWAK) team defeated Scorpions by 9 wickets to lift the coveted trophy. Sharq United won the Veterans Trophy while Salmiya Friends team was the runners-up.



The tournament began by invoking Lord’s blessings led by Rajesh Aranha. President Hilary Stevan Rego welcomed the teams and guests and declared the tournament open. Sauraider Rana, Chandan Shukla and Abdul Nisar were the umpires. Lloyd D’Souza, Harry Fernandes, Anil D’Mello and Royce were the scorers of the tournament. Live score

Dr Manohar Prabhu handled the presentation ceremony. Sports secretary Hywel Pinto thanked all who helped in organizing the tournament. Sunitha D’Silva and Michael Pinto handled the membership counter at the venue. Walter Santhmayor, Deepak Andrade, Rajesh Aranha, Naveen Mascarenhas and Dr Manohar Prabhu contributed in live
commentary in (Konkani, Kannada and English). Alban D’Souza captured the event through his skills in photography. Sound was provided by Waves Events & Rentals. Naveen Mascarenhas provided the logistics support. KCWA sports committee coordinated the tournament with the support of KCWA managing committee members.
