Pak claims it destroyed Indian post, killed 5 jawans; Army calls it 'baseless'

Islamabad/New Delhi, Feb 16 (IANS): Pakistan has claimed that its troops destroyed an Indian Army post in Tatta Pani sector across the Line of Control (LoC) and killed five soldiers.

Pakistan Army Spokesman Major General Asif Ghaffor in a tweet late Thursday night also shared a video clip purportedly showing bombing of the Indian Army post and smoke billowing from the site after it was hit by fire.

"Indian Army post on LoC targeting innocent citizens destroyed by Pak Army troops in Tatta Pani (Hot Spring) sector. Five Indian soldiers killed, many injured. Indian terrorism against innocent citizens shall be responded befittingly,” Ghaffor tweeted.

However, an Indian Army official in New Delhi said the Pakistan Army's claim is "baseless".

Earlier, in a statement the Pakistan army spokesman said that India's "unethical and unprofessional" approach across the LoC is terrorising civilians.

Pakistan on Thursday summoned India's Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh to condemn the "unprovoked firing" by Indian troops across the LoC which allegedly resulted in the death of a driver of a van carrying school children.

It alleged that the Indian forces "deliberately targeted a school van carrying school children on Battal-Madharpur road, resulting in the death of the driver of the van, leaving the school children severely traumatised."

With eight state assembly elections to go and Lok Sabha elections likely to preponed, the timing of the sudden escalation of violence across the border seems to be doubtful.
The nation has witness such cross border threat prior to Uttar Pradesh elections and PM Modi government responded with 'Surgical strike' which was never showed to the nation despite the claims. But in other hand Pakistan gave International journalists helicopter survey were India claimed penetrated deep inside Pakistan borders.

These sudden increase of border attacks coincides with state elections are highly doubtable. When PM Modi can pitch stop for former PM Nawaz Sharif birthday, why can't he visit Pakistan to defuse tensions?
Is low scale war like Kargil is manufactured to deflect the voters from original and present issues to score in the coming elections?
As both nations are going for elections the low scale war between to nuclear rivals seem evidence for political benefit. Unfortunately innocents pay the price. War has no mercy. Syria is best example to learn.
According to a Defence Review report, India spends Rs 5 crore every day to ensure safety and supply of food through helicopters for soldiers stationed at the glacier.
Imagine the one day war cost of full scale war in a nation were more than 70% of population struggle to meet their end with increasing cost of living?
Is nation ready to take the burden if such a full blown at the expenses of its citizens?
