Aadhaar linking faces revolt from Modi's bro in Gujarat

Ahmedabad, Feb 15 (DHNS): Prahlad Modi, president of Association of Fair Price Shopkeepers in Gujarat and elder brother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday repeated his threat to close down fair price shops across the state over glitches in linking of Aadhaar with accounts of beneficiaries.

"The government must ensure that the linking of Aadhaar with the accounts of beneficiaries of fair price shops is done properly," Prahlad Modi told mediapersons after his meeting with Gujarat Civil Supplies Minister Jayesh Radadia.

The senior Modi said there were glitches in the linkages and it led to altercation between the fair price shopkeepers and their customers at times. "It impacts our endeavour to follow Supreme Court guidelines of providing goods to people and we are forced to turn them back empty-handed at times. If the government does not ensure proper linkage, we would be forced to shut our shops and boycott work," he added.

Prahlad Modi has raised issues faced by fair price shopkeepers of the state in the past, even against his brother's government at the Centre and the BJP government in the state. Last year, he had threatened a similar agitation demanding increase in commission of fair price shop owners.

The minister later stated that the government would work to tide over any technical glitches in the linking of Aadhaar with accounts of beneficiaries by March 31.

He has raised the issue and govt should consider as it does review all positive suggestions if any on all the implementations .. nothing big deal though to have so many negative thoughts over..
Just to get death & birth certificate we have so much of issues with the govt employees and we carefully check each and every alphabets to see all in proper so we don't face problem in future .and wonder when aadhar is processed all over country there will be much bigger issues to be addressed and hope it sorted early..
Mostly it all depends on the booth level where citizens interact ..

Amendment in personal data (spelling, second name) etc,, should have been made easier because in the beginning, all bank accounts were maintained manually. When computerizing started, outsourced employees fed the data as per their understanding thus leaving a spelling error here there.

Adhaar process is on electronic format. If one letter of the name in the bank account data does not match, the entire process of linking gets rejected. There can be just one name in the account but Adhaar records come along with father's name for men and father's/husband's name for women. A different birth date may be at either place or the spelling error (i.d. Lata for Latha) or some other information that does not match.

To be going all over again with the linking process is too time consuming, at the same time the staff might not be too cooperating with long queue behind to complete in the day. The Government must enable the banks to adjust their records according to Adhaar when their customer approaches for linking because nobody know what they have maintained in their database.

    Jagdish,

Addressing anybody with respect increases your own respect and the beauty of a language/dialect remains by using 'eer' instead of 'ee'
