Two undertrials, Goa jail guard hospitalised after drinking 'bhang'-laced milk

Panaji, Feb 15 (IANS): Two undertrials lodged in a jail here and a jail guard were hospitalised on Wednesday after consuming what police suspect was "bhang" (hemp)-laced milk, late on Tuesday night, officials said.

An FIR has been filed at the Mapusa Police Station under Section 328 of the Indian Penal Code (causing hurt by poisoning) against another undertrial Anil Bhue by the authorities of Colvale Central Jail, located in North Goa district.

Bhue allegedly prepared the bhang-laced milk and gave it to the two undertrials -- Babu Arolkar and Vinay Gadekar -- and jail guard Kiran Naik on the occasion of Mahashivratri festival on Tuesday night.

All the three were hospitalised on Wednesday after they complained of pain in the stomach and vomiting this morning.

Speaking to reporters in Panaji, Inspector General of Prisons Rajendra Mirajkar confirmed the incident and said: "The inmates and guard who were taken ill have been hospitalised."

The police have also attached a bucket in which the alleged bhang-laced milk concoction was prepared and a sample of the milk has been sent for forensic analysis, an official attached to the Mapusa Police Station said.

Purpose is clear.By giving giving laced milk to guard ,make undertrials to escape.By the way how come guard come to drink undertrials food/milk?Is it not forbidden t o take anything from undertrials when on duty?In India is everything possible. No wonder criminals escape fron jail.make inquiry of guard and punish him .or suspend him if found guilty.
