Mangaluru: Attack on two airport employees in car at Adyapady - two held

Mangaluru, Feb 13: In connection with a complaint about a gang having waylaid a car carrying a male and a female passenger, who reportedly were working at the airport, at Adyapady and attacking them, Bajpe police have succeeded in arresting two of the attackers.

The arrested persons happen to be Shekhar Shetty and Rakshit, both from Adyapady. They were produced in the court whereupon they were remanded to judicial custody.

It is said that the lady from Adyapady had taken part in the birthday party of a colleague at Bondel on the night of Friday. As it was too late in the night when the party concluded, she was offered lift in the car of a colleague. When they were moving on Adyapady road, five persons who came in motor bikes, stopped and attacked them, the complaint filed by the lady in Bajpe polcie station stated.

It is said that the person who was driving the car, in a bid to escape from the gang, had hurriedly moved the car ahead, as a result of which the car had hit a motor bike of the gang. In a counter complaint, the young men had said that they had chased the car, stopped it, and demanded for making good the loss suffered to the motor bike. The lady they said, handed them an ATM card,informed the PIN and asked them to withdraw money from the ATM centre as she did not have cash. They said by the time they went to the airport, withdrew money and came back to the spot, those in the car had brought together a crowd which attacked them.
