Climate change, terrorism grave concerns: PM Modi at WEF

Davos, Jan 23 (PTI): Narendra Modi became the first Indian prime minister to address the World Economic Forum (WEF) here today during which he talked about "serious" challenges and "grave concerns" facing the world, including terrorism.

Climate change and terrorism are grave concerns before the world, Modi said, while asserting that terrorism is dangerous but what is equally dangerous is the "artificial distinction" made between 'good terrorist' and 'bad terrorist'.

He also said India's position on the menace of terrorism is well known and he would not like to elaborate on that.

The prime minister, who arrived here yesterday, said issues of peace, security and stability have emerged as serious global challenges.

He also noted that the last time when an Indian prime minister came here in 1997, India's GDP was a little more than USD 400 billion, but now it has increased more than six-times.

Referring to WEF's theme of 'Creating a shared future in a fractured world', he said the Indian philosophy of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' (the world is one family) has become more relevant in today's time to address fissures and distances in the world.

    "Vasudhaiva kutumbakam" sounds good.
He is addressing the whole world ?
Whole world is populated with mainly 2.2 billion Christians, 1.8 billion Muslims and 1 billion Hindus. And most of them are BEEF eaters. Specially exported indian BEEF.
But, back in India they can't tolerate just 14% Muslims and 2.3% Christians. And can't even have BEEF.
Whole world is one family ? But, Soniya ji is Italian.
Should tell the world about terrorism of RSS, OLFA, Naxalites as well. Do they come under good terrorism ?
Lynching for BEEF is good terrorism.
Muslim boy marrying Hindu girl bad terrorism.
Demolition of a masjid is good terrorism.
    Godhra incident is bad terrorism.
    Gujrat genocide is good terrorism.
    So on.......

Thank God for a change he did not talk about corruption and black money. He should talk about development of human being before talking about economy. even a small child who saw his picture on a airport boarding pass in Mangalore, called him a FEKU.

Bol Bachchan in full swing. It's interesting to see this big U turn on climate change
The same person on teachers' day in 2014 had given the message to students ' Climate doesn't change, we do, as we age we lose our resistance to extreme weather' This was his global warming back in 2014 and now his speech writer has mentioned CO2 emission. It's good that he's educated himself on that. But if he doesn't have any alternative for increased energy demand, such as usage of methanol or electrcity by Thorium based nuclear reactors, burnimg more coal to meet the increased energy demand electric vehicles is going to make the situation worse.
Also instead of repeatedly saying 'Friends' in his otherwise Hindi speech, Mithrooon would have been more appropriate. Also looks like finally gotten over his Hugmania. Or may be he's just saved all his hugs for one and only......
