Mangaluru: Innocents become victims, 5 murders in 28 days in city

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jan 23: During the period of about 28 days since December 25, five persons were killed in the city. Strangely, three of those who lost their lives were innocent. The murders which are taking place now and then have put a question mark on the law and order situation here, besides giving rise to worry and apprehension among the citizens here.

Melrick D'Souza, a notorious rowdy, had been killed by a gang of rowdies who were awaiting his return home at Gorigudde here from Christmas party at night on December 25. Deepak Rao was eliminated by a five-member gang which arrived in a car at Katipalla when he was going home for lunch on January 3.

Deepak, Basheer & Shivaraj

In an act of revenge for this murder, Basheer became of murderous attack on the night of January 3. Basheer was closing his fast food joint when he was attacked with sharp weapons. He had breathed his last later at A J Hospital.

The next to lose his life was Target Ilyas, who was murdered by a gang of opponents which entered his home at Jeppu Kudappady here on January 13. On January 22, Shivaraj was killed by miscreants with a pickaxe.

The police acted swiftly and made some arrests in three murder cases whereas no one has been arrested in the case of Ilyas. Relating to the murder of Shivaraj, the police have taken into custody three persons from Thannirbavi for questioning.

Regrettably, three of those who lost their lives in these acts during these 28 days were innocents without any criminal records.

The underworld gangs are growing fast in coastal districts of our state. They give treats to the builders, jewelers hoteliers and other business establishments and extract money . They also running smuggling, prostitution, betting other illegal business and also provide protection to illegal businessmen for a cost. Our politicians take their help when the time of need. So these innocent killings are all bye products of these gang wars.

i think your wailing will prolong for decades to come. You will never have back your appeasing government in your life time. In 2019, Modi will be victorious. He will continue to one more time in 2024. BJP will continue ruling the center for another century.
