Bengaluru: Rahul Gandhi directs party leaders to toe soft Hindutva principles

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jan 14: National president of Congress party, Rahul Gandhi, who has told the state unit of his party in no uncertain terms that they have to ensure that Congress rises to power again in the state in the upcoming assembly election, has told the leaders to pedal soft Hindutva to effectively counter strong Hindutva which has been adopted as poll plank by the BJP.

Rahul has asked the state office bearers to prepare a list of party candidates for the election at the earliest, and to release the list in respect of 150 constituencies where there is no confusion about the candidature, so that the candidates can begin work in their respective constituencies immediately. He has agreed to undertake a three-day tour of the state beginning February 10, and to launch electioneering by his party for assembly election by addressing a mega convention of party workers being convened in the city on February 12.

During the consultations he held at New Delhi on Saturday January 13 with Karnataka chief minister, Siddaramaiah, president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), G Parameshwar, and some other leaders from the state, he is understood to have discussed about strategies to be implemented for the election. He impressed upon the leaders that the paramount aim of all the strategies should be to bring back Congress to power in Karnataka. He also held one-to-one meetings with party leaders, gathered their opinions about the current political scenario in Karnataka, and advised them to get fully involved with election campaigning immediately.

The leaders who accompanied the chief minister during this visit were senior leader, Mallikarjun Kharge, former union minister, Veerappa Moily, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee working president, S R Patil, and others.

The broad guidelines he has outlined for party's victory in the state are to place before the people failures of Modi government, exercising caution when issuing statements pertaining to Hindutva, pooling of resources for the election, putting social websites to maximum use, giving wide publicity to corruption and other charges faced by BJP leaders, strengthening of law and order mechanism in coastal districts to rein in highhandedness of Hindu outfits and BJP, and creating awareness campaigns at booth level to clear doubts and misgivings the party workers may be having about use of electronic voting machines.

At the same time, Rahul is learnt to have left strict instructions to party leaders to own defensive posture about Hindutva that is the major issue BJP is banking on, desist from issuing controversial statements about Hindutva and not to project themselves as anti-Hindu. With particular reference to the techniques adopted by BJP in Gujarat, he highlighted the failure of leaders of his party in Gujarat and deliberated on mistakes committed by them, it is said. He was of the opinion that the party failed in organizing party workers at booth level in Gujarat, which resulted in the party's downfall there. At the same time, he is understood to have expressed reservations about branding of Hindu outfits as terrorists by chief minister, Siddaramaiah, and KPCC working president, Dinesh Gundu Rao.

He told the leaders in the state to project united image, not to give to rise to confusions, resolve internal differenecs themselves, and find solutions to problems before they appear in the media.

Soft Hindutva ..What is that ? Hindutva is softest and most accepting religion in the world as , So are all other religions of the world.
If a person is not soft ,you cant blame his religion for that ..its just that the interpretation is wrong ..or misrepresented for some political gains.

    what is this?
Does this mean congress will not be doing minority appeasement? But they are already doing it.
Pappu has totally confused siddu and karnataka congress workers. Now they dont know whether to support hindutva or not?
Anyway, minorities can start searching some other party now, because congress is no more interested in your welfare.

Its a clear sign that this bloke is running out of strategies and desperate. Soft Hindutava? Sounds like a very alien concept. The timing is not good. After losing elections almost everywhere, and adopting something new is not gonna work for sure.

Meanwhile the PM & BJP has already made inroads with Triple Talak banning & banning Polygamy , that has dented the traditional muslim vote bank. The only card that Cong has is, 'no good leader ' in thh state BJP. Instead of capitalizing on this wisely, our arrogant CM has made comments like 'terrorists' , 'beef' etc that wont go well with the public . The gen public will eventually be ready to accept a 'tainted Yeddy instead of an 'Arrogant Siddu'. The day is not far.

Largely, the party workers for congress at booth level are party hoppers. They are in congress but work for other parties. The true congress workers do not get recognized therefore they stay away. Leaders treat all party workers as their personal staff. This is a culture that has to change for congress, only then it will improve its electorate.

Rahul knows this but personally there is little he can do. That kind of loyalty works only when there is strong magnetic leadership. Where the workers with self-inspiration do it for the party irrespective of the hardships they face.

This is the advantage what BJP has. The magnetic force that keeps its workers slogging day and night is Hindutva. Their motivation is getting India as Hindu nation. BJP's this mask works perfectly for it.

Unfortunately for the country neither the Hindutva as preached by Muthalik, nor the economic policies of Jaitley or the social harmony practiced by Amit Shah are in favor of the country. They all are absolutely recipe for disasters. That is the very simple reason BJP has to be defeated now then ever.

    @ Roshan
Hindutva is only a poll plank for BJP to polarize Hindu votes. In reality what is happening is mob lynching, Shambu lal act of hatred killing, harassment in the name of love Jihad, case of Dhanyashree, banning of Padmavati, banning beef while still exporting it, demonetization disaster, GST flop show, Vyapam scam, banking system slowly collapsing, shrinking interest rates giving nightmares to senior citizens, interference with institutions, EVM tampering, misuse of CBI, ITD, ED for raiding opposition members,

focusing only on elections thereby neglecting governance, forming government in Goa and Manipur through backdoor when they could not get majority, betraying the people's mandate in Bihar, PR dressing to make failures look like achievements, ignoring farmers issues, increasing terrorist attacks, increasing loss of lives of brave armed forces personnel, increasing huge unemployment, controlling much of media, branding opponents of BJP as anti Hindu or anti national etc.

The only people to get motivated for the BJP are Modi bhakts and no one else. The BJP was not like this during Atalji's rule. Thankfully, there is a growing resentment and anti BJP, anti Modi sentiment due to the Modi government's failures on a national scale which you can get a sense of on social media as well as on the ground. The proof of this could be seen in the recently concluded Gujarat elections where the BJP won by just a whisker (just 7 more than majority of 92).

My Gujarati friends who once were his devoted bhakts are now openly criticising him using choicest words. All this accumulated disappointment, anger will become motivating factors in helping the opposition overcome the BJP. What happened to all the 2G allegations of the BJP against the UPA ? .............tussss

reality is majority indins hindus and some extend muslims realized the back ground machinery politics of congress and how machinery and bishops are desperate to make only soniya or her family member as top for Indian post.how they want to rule real indian from back ground....truth is that now the illegal funding to machiery stopped completely..and modi is no where ready to make compromise with any break india forces...that made the intolerance ..still majority not fall to this prey..so now the agenda is to simpy play soft hindutva..first they made fools to muslims and now that same on to fool hindus.hopefully both hindus and muslims will not realise the real agenda of soniay and congress. ..this is the only reason we must look to give victory to bjp ..

During election time BJP always try to project the Congress as only a pro Muslim party for polarizing Hindu votes. That is why during election campaigning BJP accuses the Congress using names like Aurangzeb, Khilji, Tipu Sultan, Hafiz Saeed, Pakistan etc.

Congress is a secular party and has always been so and this 'soft hindutva' term was coined by some of the media only after Rahul's visit to temples in Gujarat during campaigning which the BJP are trying unsuccessfully to use for political gain.

The visit to temples was only Rahul's way of showing that the Congress is not just for muslims but for all Indians including majority Hindus. This strategy of the Congress is to negate BJP's Hindutva politics of dividing communities for polarizing Hindu votes . It does not mean that the Congress is turning their back on minorities and secular Hindus and I believe they too understand that well.

    Thanks for telling the truth.
In Gujarath pappu visited not Les than 25 temples and no mention
of masjid or churches.where as during UP it was other way round
If this s not apeasment and soft Hindutva what is this ?

    @Rathan
Secular Hindus in simple language according to what I understand are people from Hindu faith who in spite of being in majority and who in a true democratic and secular tradition accept people of other faiths as equal citizens of this country and do not force their religious beliefs, traditions and culture on people of other faiths, for eg. banning beef

while beef is exported and hate crimes such as mob lynching of suspected cattle thieves etc., Shambu Lal killing of a muslim man, harassment in the name of love jihad. churches attacked in Mangalore etc.

The meaning of Secular Hindu here has nothing to do with the religious aspect of Hinduism but is to describe the attitude and conduct with fellow citizens of other faiths in a Hindu majority democratic secular nation.

Hindus are the most peace loving people on earth I remember through my growing years till now but some political and ideological groups are trying to give different meaning to it now only for political power in my opinion.
