Bengaluru: I am not responsible if state leaders have promised tickets – Amith Shah

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Jan 2: BJP national president Amit Shah has announced that he is not responsible if BJP state leaders promise tickets and stressed that the tickets will be decided by central leadership.

Speaking at a meeting to review the poll preparedness of the state unit in Bengaluru on Sunday, he said "There will be demand for tickets. If Union Minister Ananth Kumar assures, Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje the ticket, I am not responsible. It is only an assurance. Who gets the ticket will be decided by usus , the party central leadership,”

His statement seemed to be direct dig at Karnataka BJP president B S Yeddyurappa who has been drawing flak from his detractors for announcing official candidates who will contest in the upcoming polls during the ongoing Nava Karnataka Nirmana Parivarthana Yatra.

Shah stressed that the framework set by him for candidate selection should be strictly followed. A core team headed by Yeddyurappa should ‘silently’ shortlist and informally assess two to three candidates for each Assembly constituency during the Yatra.

A survey will be conducted by an independent agency on the winning ability of the shortlisted candidates. Simultaneously, the central leadership will be conducting another independent ground reality study. The final candidate list will be drawn based on survey findings and study results.

Shah’s statement is creating a buzz in the BJP circles and some are even apprehensive about Shobha’s candidature.

During the Nava Karnataka Nirmana Parivarthana Yatra in Tumakuru, Yeddyurappa announced 'Masala' Jayaram will be the party's official candidate for this year's Assembly polls from the Turuvekere constituency. Jayaram had unsuccessfully contested the 2013 Assembly elections from Yeddyurappa's erstwhile Karnataka Janata Party (KJP).

Later, at a public convention during the Yatra in Tipatur in Tumakuru district, Yeddyurappa announced that former MLA B C Nagesh will be the BJP's official candidate from the constituency.

After that Yeddyurappa announced 20-25 candidates which also led to controversy in Kalaburagi, Bidar and Shivamogga districts as he announced his KJP followers as candidates.

Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council K S Eshwarappa had openly denounced Yeddyurappa for announcing candidates overriding the directions of the central leadership.

Grass root level workers will be fed will grass only and BJP Central leadership will control the state political scenario which is quite contrary to the speeches of Amit Shah and Modiji.

Daku will be always Daku no matter however he may pretend to change. Still some believes them. Congress party is dynasty but still they are openly accepting it. Here, BJP is nothing but double standard.

Its time for the people of Karnataka to demonstrate that we Kannadigas are not the Gujarat or UP. We have our mind from centuries and we convert people to become world citizens.
Here what flaws we saw in Congress, more than double adapted by these BJPs. Its also a Coterie type. They Devide people, played with their sentiments, confused and lured, forgot development and even did not leave our Jawans who guard the Nation and citizens day and night.
keep your mind open and wisdom broad, so that you are not cheated once again on the pretext of love jihad, conversion etc, which does not exist in this age. Lets have our differences, but show that we are unique Kannadigas.

Whatever the allegations against him he has the spine to revolt against central leadership which he has done in last election and taken significant share of vote.

This is the very Party and leaders who used to mock Congress that it's run by High Command and the State leaders don't have any powers. See where they have reached today. The same High Command culture has not just set foot but has become norm for BJP. Everything we hated in Congress, everything that BJP criticised in Congress once, can today be found in BJP. High Command, Coterie, Dynasty! Nops! BJP has outdone Congress in everything. So much for the party with difference. This was the practice in Congress earlier when High Command in Delhi decided candidates even for Municipality polls. Now BJP is doing the same thing. Getting rid of strong regional leaders and installing week local leaders as CMs so that Central leadership is not questioned. Difference is that it took Congress 50 years to destroy itself, BJP is doing it within 20 years. Slow claps to all those who say BJP is party with difference!

And the sad thing you won't understand is, in a democracy, if you don't have a strong opposition, the country will be like Hitler's Germany. Corruption will go unquestioned and powers will be used for their advantage and we will not look any different from Afghanistan under Taliban.

And for you to realise that, you need some insights and many others like you who think Congress Mukht Bharat would be a blessing, you will be in for a rude shock.

Its not so either in BJP or the congress.
Various inputs are taken in before the decision is taken.
You dont get a ticket just because somebody likes you. Many other factors are involved.
