New Delhi: Balbir Singh to Mohammed Amir - Kar Sevak takes unusual turnaround

Daijiworld Media Network - New Delhi (SP)

New Delhi, Jan 1: Balbir Singh held masters degrees in history, political science and English. During the 25 years since he was a Kar Sevak and got involved with the demolition of Babri Masjid, he has transformed into a orator who can speak authoritatively about Islam. His name also has changed into Mohammed Amir during this period.

Balbir was born into a Rajput family near Panipat. His father was a school teacher who followed Gandhian principles. His father was hell bent on making Muslims living in the area feel safe and secure, having witnessed the deaths and devastations associated with partition.

Balbir's family shifted to Panipat for the education of children. During his stay there, Balbir got associated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and attended its Shakhas. He later joined Shiv Sena and like his elder brother, got involved with loom business. He also got married but continued with his studies. For the family which cherished soft Gandhian views, Balbir was unique as he followed RSS ideals.

Mohammed Amir - now

Mohammed Amir as Balbir Singh years back (inset) and in 1991 (on left)

Balbir and his family did not visit temples as his father did not believe in idol worship. He says that the people thought him to be hardcore Hindu activist but he was not. He went to Ayodhya with other Kar Sevaks in 1992 and hit the Babri Masjid structure with a pickaxe with others. On his return, he got a hero's welcome at Panipat. As his father was furious at what he did, and said that that either he or his son would live in the house, Balbir left home. He lived in fields and deserted corners. He returned home after two months after coming to know that his father was no more. But his family said his father had directed them not to allow Balbir to attend his funeral. He also found that his close friend, Yogendra Pal, who was with him during his Ayodhya trip, had embraced Islam to ward off mad thoughts.

Balbir travelled to Sonepat at the instance of Yogendra Pal, met Maulana Kalim Siddiqui, got converted into Islam and embraced the new name, Mohammed Amir. He leart Arabic, studied Quran, and taught English at Madrassa. In 1993, his wife came back to him and converted into Islam. After his elder brother's wife died, he convinced his wife to get remarried to his elder brother. “My brother had children who would have become motherless. If not for her they would not have been able to cope. I owe her a great debt.” says Amir.

Later, Mohammed Amir married a widow named Shahnaz Begum.. He got engaged with restoring and rebuilding mosques in north India, most of them in Mewat region, and built with help from Waliyullah Trust. He says there are many mosques about which government departments too do not know, and he goes searching for them, cleans them, begins worships there and start madrassas. He has set a target of repairing and rebuilding 100 mosques for himself.

Amir says he identifies that education is neglected by Muslims and he is particular that they should get educated. He keeps teaching people to be peaceful, as peace is what he got from Islam. He adds that he teaches the virtue of forgiving others, in spite of being powerful enough to retaliate. Amir can be said to be on the long path of forgiving self and living in peace.

Just like any other muslim he respects other religion but it doesn't mean he will convert to Hinduism.
Do not misquote his comments on the bhagavad gita but respect the fact that he has praised the religious book of Hindus which obviously RSS doesn't understand.

The same Will Smith travelled to India last month and says he channels his 'inner Arjuna' on trip and he is almost done with Gita.

I am giving this example because even hindus don't read Veda or B-Gita and they can easily be brainwashed to take up other religions. One who has understood these scriptres, the rest of the books will look like children stories.. But not everyone is lucky like Will smith to blessed by Krishna

Balbir's father practiced true Hinduism, which I too have experienced since my childhood, thanks to our Hindu neighbours who looked after us like their own children. Whatever I am today, I owe it to them as much as I owe it to my parents. While the modern day Hinduism - post December 6, 1992 - is a far cry from what it was then, and what it actually should be, I feel true Hinduism or Hindutva is still alive. As for Balbir's conversion to Islam, it was his choice, and nobody has the right to dictate terms.

Come on dear.. how long you will continue to disown isis just becase you want to project a better picture? Isis is in purest form.. that’s how tippe or aurangjeb was, just brutally killing innocents if they don’t share same faith...

also these people quote the exact lines from the holybook after killing innocents. But yes, many people disown them in public but heroworship them only privately for the reasons known..

I am saddened as no one wants to bring reforms that can guide the terroists to lead peaceful ways. Among hinduss we had reformers due to which we got away from Sati, devdasi, animal sacrifice, untouchability etc to a great extent. Hope someone comes out and say ‘yes we do have problems and we will reform’.

Singh’s transformation is all the more dramatic as he is known as the first karsevak on the dome to raze the Babri mosque for which he received a hero’s welcome as he returned to his home town, Panipat. Two bricks were carried back by him which are still kept in the Shiv Sena’s office there.

Guidance to the truth is in the hand of Allah alone and no human being has any share in that, as Allah said to His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) (interpretation of the meaning):

“Verily, you (O Muhammad) guide not whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills. And He knows best those who are the guided.”Chapter [al-Qasas 28:56] Holy Quran.

For some former kar sevaks bringing down the Babri Masjid is now no longer a matter of pride but one of anguish. Once fiercely determined to the cause of the Ram temple these men have have embraced Islam in a bid to find forgiveness.
It isn’t just Balbir Singh or Yogendra Pal that are haunted by their past, other kar sevaks too are doing their best to exorcise the memories of shame and guilt. Shive Prasad, a former youth leader of the Bajrang Dal in Ayodhya, is one of them. Prasad had given training to about 4,000 kar sevaks and he and his team had actively participated in pulling down the Babri Masjid on December 6, 1992.

Within a year after the demolition, Prasad went deep into depression, suffering bouts of hallucination, blaming himself for having committed an “unforgivable sin.” Prasad visited psychiatrists, tantriks and saints but there was no peace in his mind. For the next five years, he lived the life of a recluse and in 1997, he went to Sharjah to seek employment. In 1999, he formally embraced Islam in Sharjah and became Mohammed Mustafa.
It is true that in the case of ex-Karsevak from the contest of Holy Scripture Allah guides whom He wills.

There are likewise hard core muslims have abandoned their faiths. Since leaving islam punishable crime in islamic countries they don't dare to tell their apostasy. Take the example Nabeel qureshi of US and Ali sina. Ali sina had to go hiding into Canada as he knows he will be killed in his native country.

When someone becomes a muslim it becomes a breaking news. However when muslims join other religions nobody notices it. Aljazeera ( muslim news paper)reported that 60 million people in Africa and Arab world have abandoned islam for christianity. Many in strict arab coutries are secretly atheists and pretend to be muslims. There are many Muslims in India who have left islam for Hinduism. A person leaving or many people leaving Hinduism does not make Hinduism wrong. Good luck to balbir Singh aka mohammad amir

In Islam, one must compulsory give (when he crosses a limit of minimum wealth) 2.5% of his wealth annually to the poor and needy; otherwise he is considered to committing a biggest sin. So it's proved that Islam is not a money making religion.

When you willfully destroys others property, life without any reason, the guilt always pricks till eternity. Here the same has happened to Balbir Singh who has destroyed Babri Majid in 1992. But the innocent lives and their cries might be echoing his soul and that is surely made him to convert to Islam and change his name to Mohammed Amir.

Truth always wins over lies. Hope Balbir Singh / Mohammed Amir will sow the seed of love, brotherhood and humanity.

This is what I said when modiji mentioned about triple talaq, lonly women's visit to Hajj withou Mehram(father, brother, son, husband).
I told that non muslims shoukd not poke into Islam the most divine religion. Many times case like Mohammed Amir happens. He was RSS activists ,he touched our Babari masjid and what he became. Not only him there are three more who demolished Babari masjid reverted to Islam.

Quran chapter Al Anfal 8:30 says- "And [remember, O Muhammad], when those who disbelieved plotted against you to restrain you or kill you or evict you [from Makkah]. But they plan, and Allah plans.

    Dear Shammi, Karnataka

Quran chapter Al Anfal 8:30 says - "And [remember, O Muhammad], when those who disbelieved plotted against you to restrain you or kill you or evict you [from Makkah]. But they plan, and Allah plans.

I am confused by the above and I would request you, or anyone else to please help me understand this verse. Here is my question, and there is no offence meant:

I fully understand that people (human beings) plot and plan against each another, and with all the planning in the world still things go wrong because nobody knows the future. God is the only one who knows the future and there is no need for Him to plan as he is God. But if you are saying that Allah also makes “plans” razes a very big question in my little mind. If Allah is God then why does he need to plan? God is all knowing. He knows the past, He knows the present and He very well knows the future.

So if you are saying that Allah need to plan, was your deity human or was he divine?
