Bengaluru: Ahead of polls, JD(S) tries to woo Kichcha Sudeep to join party

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Dec 31: Ahead of the 2018 Karnataka Assembly polls, JD(S) is putting all efforts to woo Sandalwood actor Kichcha Sudeep to join the party.

Party sources reveal that JD(S) MLC C R Manohar who is Sudeep’s close friend and also producer of his upcoming film ‘Villain’ has been given the responsibility to convince the actor to join the party.

Manohar has facilitated a meeting between JD(S) State President Kumaraswamy and Sudeep earlier this month. On December 16, Sudeep called Kumaraswamy to greet him on his birthday and Manohar insisted the actor to invite the JD(S) leader for lunch.

It is said that Kumaraswamy visited Sudeep the very next day with a proposal to join the party.

Manohar told a newspaper that he hopes that Sudeep, like his uncle Sarovar Srinivas chooses JD(S) to begin his political career. Srinivas was elected as an MLC twice on a JD(S) ticket.

Manohar feels that Sudeep joining JD(S) will give a big boost to the regional party.

Meanwhile, Sudeep who has maintained that he is not interested to join politics is yet to announce his decision.

It is important to note that Sudeep had pledged support to Manohar when the latter filed his nomination papers to contest the MLC elections from Kolar-Chikkaballapur constituency two years ago.

It is also interesting that Kumaraswamy taking a dig at Ambareesh and Ramya, had advised voters in Mandya during earlier elections to ‘reject’ actors entering politics and recognise only those persons who work for the welfare of the people. However, it seems that Kumaraswamy too is now banking on the actor’s fame for the ‘benefit’ of the party.

Joining JDS is akin to supporting BJP because, we are getting to hear that both JDS and BJP are planning to play 20-20 again like the way they did in 2005-06
