Muslim women can travel for Haj without 'Mahram': Modi

New Delhi, Dec 31 (IANS): In a bid to empower Muslim women, the government has changed the law by permitting them to travel for the annual Haj pilgrimage without any male attendant, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday.

"I noticed that if a Muslim woman wanted to go for the Haj pilgrimage, they cannot go without a 'Mahram' (a male guardian)," Modi said in 2017's last edition of his radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat'.

"And when I enquired about it, I came to know that it was we who have have restricted them for going alone for the Haj. This practice is not followed in many of the Islamic countries," he said.

Modi added that the Minority Affairs Ministry has removed this restriction and will now allow the Muslim women to travel to Haj without a male attendant.

"Till date, 1,300 women have applied to travel for the Haj without any Mahram," the Prime Minister said, adding that "they should get equal opportunity as the men get".

In Islam Haj is invalid for women without Maharam. I feel sorry for Modi who desperately trying to change constitution of Quran which is impossible. There are dozens of evil practises in his community why not he divert his concern there?

Dear Manohar, dont act like dumb and blind. Everyone knows that cow theft issues are 99.9 percent incorrect. This is same as love jihad. All the cows used to be purchased legally. However, most of the cow sellers inform sangh parivar after receiving money from buyers and these goondas catch the buyers claiming cows to be of theft.

BJP IS HIGHLIGHTING SHARIAH,ITS GOOD IN A WAY,NOW MANY NON MUSLIMS WIL BE CURIOUS TO KNOW ABOUT SHARIAH.And some will start researching on it.And most of them get convinced and they become reverts.Trust me this has happened in the past,the word Jehad had many to hook on to our scriptures ,u can see many non muslims that too RSS guyz who reverted to Islam.

So BJP and Modi you should be very careful when you are discussing or highlighting Islamic issues.

Divine laws and scriptures are magnetic to Human mind.God has designed those books that way.One who reads it gets either confused or convinced.

I was given Bible ,I was told if your Iman ( faith ) is strong in Islam then only go through Bible,otherwise there are chances you ll convert.So i didnt go through as i should know my Book first 100%

So what Modi is doing is indirectly propagating Islam.Where Jehad ,shariah,triple talaq this shoukd have been within muslim boundaries.But he is freely advertising it

Good this should be a lesson for Muslim I personally feel BJP should do all Muslim Empowerment before 2019 so at least now My Community realizes what is being a vote bank in hands of CongRSS ,
And the myth of Muslim depending upon so-called secular party should be gone and get there own representatives in Assembly.
I request My Community at least learn from Dalits. Apne pairoo pe khud khade hoo...
I dont want to say be a ruling party but atleast your numbers should count before any decision is taken

Some one talking about KSA. and India Rules and regulations of Visit or perform the rituals. in china you. cannot Keep the name related to the Religion i am talking about only particular community. you cannot go to pray. children under 18. no Madrasa no. TTL. No Ramadan. but all still visit the palace and not open the mouth. and very close relation with Pak.

..central Minority ministry minister NAQVI said 'Application process for Haj 2018 had started on November 15 and more than 1000 women have applied to perform Haj without "Mehram" as on December 13'...if families/society oppose this initiative then how come 1000 application came!!..No one forced any one to apply..it seems some narrow minded people only opposing..

In recently concluded Gujarat election BJP played communal politics for terming Gujarat leaders Hardik Patel, Alpesh Thakor and Jignesh Mevani as “HAJ.” Gujarat electorate to face-off between “HAJ” and “RAM”. Notably, “RAM” stands for the three leaders of Gujarat BJP- Vijay Rupani (Gujarat CM), Amit Shah (BJP President) and PM Modi.
In November 2014, Jashodaben had filed an RTI application with Mehsana police seeking clarity on the security cover given to her and wanted to know what she is entitled to.
Jashodaben had also sought certified copies of the actual orders passed by the government with regard to the security cover given to her as per the protocol.
She had also demanded information about the laws and related provisions in the Indian Constitution about security cover given to a the wife of prime minister.
However, Mehsana District Police had denied her information on December 27 under RTI stating that all her queries were related to Local Intelligence Bureau (LIB), which is exempted under the RTI Act.
Four months after she was denied information on her security cover, has filed a second appeal under the Right To Information or RTI Act seeking details on the matter.
PM wife was denied free movement in her own nation. But Muslim women became priority for the party which bring votes.
If single lady travels and falls seek in the crowd of 30 lakh pilgrims how the Indian government is going to assist?
PM Modi ideas are just like single women going to 'Kumbh Mela' between the millions of naked Sadhus or Amarnath Yatra hiking.
Do women on pilgrim is comfortable without mail companion of her blood line or with stranger which she has worry every movement about her security?
PM Modiji, in India every 10 minutes gets sexually abused, think about their welfare by building 'Toilets' and 'bath house', rather than flawed 'Triple talaq' ,Haj'.
The policy paralysis government which has failed in all fronts has nothing to woo voters.So the Muslim religious issues

First of all its not like eating kadale kai to go only women for Hajj.Theya re not going to Switzer land.Ts Hajj where millions of people come for annual fest.There is aplace to throw stones at well where shaitaan possibly was first sighted by Prophet Ishmael(Pbuh).This is very difficult task n stampede happens ,can Modi promise ,if something happend to these females ,will he give subsidy to their family lifetime.Just orally saying is easy.

And if he thinks he can change Shariah one by one mark my word till now many tried during prophet's eras and after that too,but all are destroyed.Changing sharia some think that they got superior authority over muslims,but they fail to understand that these sharia was divine laws sent via Gabriel (jibreel)angel to prophets(pbut).So They are at war on Almighty not with us.And everyone knows waging war with God is like self destruction.

He never stop Feku giri it is not government of India's rules it according to the current Saudi rules and regulations a women under the age of 45 years cannot go for Umrah unless she is accompanied with her Mahram. Complete details of the relationship between the two should be provided with the applications. If a woman is 45 years old or older then she can go without a Mahram only if she is travelling with an organized group or family and she submits a notarized No Objection Certificate from her Mahram

One single lady did not go to Haj because in Saudi she cannot go about without a male companion. Note, that even Saudi Arabia is liberating women from this compulsion.

I too at first wondered how Modi will allow them to go alone but later I read in the news itself that its the Indian Government that imposed the restriction which will be now amended. Its OK if you will not allow your family members but I am sure a group of women of similar wish will certainly take advantage of this leniency because otherwise a man will gain by being their guardian for which they might have to contribute monetarily.

This is a total lie ... How the Indian govt can put restrictions on travel .... Due you find any restrictions on travel to Dubai ... No.... It is the restrictions of Saudi govt, which does not allow the entry of single woman on Umrah or Haj visa ...( without Meharam ) they can travel in group ....
