Mangaluru, Dec 24: 'Shalimar Ashraya', a residential apartment project by Shalimar Group was launched by former bishop of Church of South India (CSI) Rev C L Furtado at Kankanady here on Sunday December 24.
Addressing the gathering, Rev Furtado said, "Bible and Quran say that you need to help the poor. People in Mangaluru live in unity and peace, and apartments are the only place where people belonging to different religions stay under one roof. We need to stand up against the political forces as people prefer to live in peace and harmony. Only when peace and harmony prevail will the country rise economically and culturally.
"Earlier there used to be lots of greenery in Mangaluru, with coconut trees everywhere, but now the area is filled with apartments and buildings, and development is taking place. I wish all the very best to the Shalimar Group," he added.
Former MUDA chairman Ibrahim Kodijal said, "Some well-wishers call me and say Mangaluru is developing but the problem is there is no peace. We should not discriminate between any religion. Instead we should keep religion asie and join hands to live together in order for peace and harmony to prevail in society."
Former CSI bishop Rev C L Furthado and other dignitaries unveiled the brochure of 'Shalimar Ashraya'. Sahil Zaheer compered the programme.
