Mangaluru: SC puts off hearing PETA petition against Kambala

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Dec 13: The Supreme Court (SC) adjourned hearing into a petition filed by People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) against holding of Kambalas by six weeks.

When the petition came up on Tuesday December 12, the three-judge bench which is hearing the petition put off the hearing by six weeks.

The petition filed by PETA that is questioning the way in which an ordinance was passed to allow holding of Kambalas and arguing that it is against law, had been taken up for hearing initially on November 6 by the SC. Hearing had been held pertaining to this case on November 13, 17 and again on November 24. On November 24, PETA had sought stay against Kambalas but the SC had refused to grant this prayer.

During this season, three Kambalas have already been held at Moodbidri, Hokkadigoly and Mangaluru. Dates have been fixed for holding of Venoor, Mulky, Miyyar, Nandikoor, Puttur, Bangadikolli, Kakyapadavu and Uppinangady Kambalas.

Majority People of Mangalore are not in favor of Kambala. This event is only a show off for few rich thick gold chain people. There is not need to spend so much money in court cases and in the Kambala event . These funds can be utilized to make new schools and hospitals for poor. Not a single person from this Kambala loving people are interested in helping the poor for education, health care or helping a poor family to get married the girl child.
These people are spending tons of money and tons of tax payers money is wasted by wasting court timings.

All the points you mentioned "interested in helping the poor for education, health care or helping a poor family to get married the girl child" , have you done any of this regularly ? or others who are not involved in kambala , are they doing all these ? . For your information Most of the buffalo owners they do all of these . what ever they win they just spent on all these above you mentioned things . You first know what kambala is , dont look at one point of view , look at different point also . why cant you fight to stop Bar and Wish shops . You can ask those ppl to spend all these above thing rite instead of simply drinking .
you sitting in Bangkok and talking about here does not make that sense .
