Mangaluru, Dec 10: United Muslim Organisation, Dakshina Kannada, has said that it would neither support nor participate in the 'Walk for Harmony' by Congress scheduled to be held from Farangipet to Mani on December 12.

District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai is going to lead the rally. Actor Prakash Rai (Raj) who has been vocal over various issues against the central government, is also expected to participate.

In a press note, United Muslim Organization DK president and former mayor K Ashraf said, "There have been frequent attacks on minorities across Dakshina Kannada district, but neither the district administration, the government nor the two ministers from this district have been been able to provide justice to them. They have failed to solve the problems and issues facing the minorities in the district."

Giving example of the alleged disrespect shown to the Quran by police during a raid on an accused in the Sharath Madivala murder case, Ashraf said, "Though the United Muslim Organization raised a strong voice and held protests demanding action against the culprits, no action has been taken in the case so far."

"Hence, we have decided to boycott the forthcoming 'Walk for Harmony' on December 12 from Farangipete to Mani," Ashraf said.

Congress is well aware that Muslim doesn't have choice but to Vote them else BJP will WIN which Muslim don't want at any cost.
SDPI, JDS ETC any party if it SPLIT Muslim votes then it's advantages for BJP this is known by each & every Muslim....With just Muslim votes SDPI or any party in DK & Udupi will never win single MLA seat's because Muslim don't have that majority in any constituency..Muslim role as of now is to help Congress in winning election..CM is aware of this and he will play is card smartly..
Locally leaders have taken Muslim for granted and they will do it blatantly as they know the weakness of Muslim community which they take as strength & convert into vote bank.
Any self claimed Muslim leader of any local Muslim group or association if he is not supporting a political party Congress as of now OPENLY (this is important the word openly) then it's is vested interest for money , power etc. He is trying to bargain for their own interests and not for Muslim community.
Currently any Muslim individual, group or association is not associated to any political party then you can trust them they are working truly for Muslim community. They will cast their vote silently using their intellectual which will help the community in large.

I think we Indians have completely missed the point. We have forgotten that Our constitution is above the religion. To remain as Indians why do we want religion? Unless some one wants a mileage by proving as true and faithful follower? And use the same publicity to be a politician. We are reaching to inhumanity and heading to destroy the unity for personal publicity. These stray incidents based on which a decision is announced will make the opposition weak. What is worse is that the support and proactive help forgotten because of one possible incident. Very unfortunate.

Are these people so blinded by whatever their ideology as to deny the truth? The incidence they referred to, i.e. that of disrespect to Koran was fake as the video that was recorded at that incident showed. the culprits were trying to use that as a way to blame the police and authorities so as to hide their illegal activities.
Anyway, one good outcome is now everybody should know what the people of this organization are, that they are not interested in genuine harmony or support initiatives which foster harmony.

No doubt there were lot of incidents where minorities were sidelined and have to face brutality in the hands of majority without any justice and it will continue no matter what as long as there is power and money to be grabbed and the majority have the upper hand to do it and it is universal throughout the world. Minorities will always be on the receiving end but it is a ongoing continuous fight but to opt out now is like strengthening the most dreaded communal majority party far worse than congress and you are making congress who is rival to BJP render further powerless and useless to address your cause unless you have something else in mind.

Ashraf Sir, Nobody representing the entire Muslim community or the entire Hindu community. In a democratic system everybody have their own ideology and own opinions. Peace loving people of this region irrespective of religion will participate in this event. 80% people want peaceful life. and the whole society is disturbed because of 5% hate mongers and 15% their followers. There will be an end for this one day. As everybody knows that Govt cannot punish anybody, only courts can do that. I can agree there are some saffron brigade affiliated Police in the department, still Police doing their duty but failing in the courts to punish the culprits due to lack of evidences. Recently HC stayed action against Kalladka Bhat, Pumpwells & Borewells. So we have to adhere to the country's judiciary system instead of blaming the govt or ministers.

I have to disagree. This is very ungrateful on the part of Mr, Ashraf. Mr, Rai has provided you all the support so far. He has celebrated Tippu Jayanthi. Participated & supported in various bhagyas schemes offered by the State Govt towards your community. He has ensured that Haj Subsidy is granted to each and every applicant , and has personally come to see the pilgrims off from the airport. Please note your community is the only one availing this foreign pilgrimage benefit in the whole world. Despite being Minorities, christians do not get this. He has bailed out many of your community culprits who were arrested either in illegal cattle trafficking or petty violences. So Why Boycott? Its time to show solidarity. Remember it will be the gain for the opposition if you back out.

Hajj subsidies given to air ticket if fly by air india; hence it is supporting air india not pilgrims. if really govt offers subsidies then it has to be for private airline also.
