Udupi, Nov 24: A person was done to death by stabbing him with a knife and crushing with a boulder. The murder happened at Badabettu Bailoor here on the morning of Thursday November 23.

Vasanth Kumar (45), resident of Vasuki Nagar, Badagabettu, Bailoor, met death in this horrible way on Thursday morning. He used to live with his elder sister, Uma N.

At about 10.45 am on Thursday, neighbours heard someone raising an alarm from Kumar's home. T S Gopinathan, who was in the nearby church, who is a local, and some others living in the neighbourhood, rushed towards Kumar's house. They saw that Vasanth Kumar was lying in a pool of blood near the pit meant for depositing waste near the rear door. A knife that was bent, and a boulder were found near Kumar.

Kumar, who was seriously injured, was admitted into the district hospital here as in-patient, but he lost his battle for life at around 3.05 pm.

The police have taken up investigation. Sources say that the investigating officials have got some clues about the murderers. Although all the top police officials are busy looking after security at the Dharma Sansad programme, investigation is progressing, sources in the department stated.

A case was registered under section 302 of Indian Penal Code on the basis of complaint filed by T S Gopinathan.
