Mysuru: 85-year-old beggar woman donates Rs two lac to temple

Daijiworld Media Network - Mysuru (MS)

Mysuru, Nov 22: If Sita of Ramayana had devotion on Lord Ram, this Sita of Kaliyuga has devoted her life to Hanuman. M V Sita Lakshmi (85), a resident of Yadavagiri, Mysuru, is the lady who has donated Rs 2 lacs, which she collected by begging and singing Bhajans of Lord Hanuman for over 40 years for the development of Prasanna Anjaneya Swamy temple at Ontikoppal, Mysuru.

Sita Lakshmi is unmarried and lives in her brother's house since 40 years. She used to do household chores till she was healthy. Once she started suffering from age-related health issues, she found solace in the shrine of Lord Hanuman which is inside the said temple at Ontikoppal. She used to sing devotional songs of Lord Hanuman from dawn till dusk sitting in the line of beggars at the entrance of the temple.

Sita Lakshmi used to deposit the money collected by begging in the temple in her bank account. The government also used to give her old-age pension. She informed the temple administration committee of her decision to donate all the money to the development of the temple and gave Rs 2 lac for the noble cause.

The temple administration committee duly recognized her philanthropy and honoured her. Her photo is displayed in the temple premises so that the devotees are aware of her generosity.

It is really heartening to note that in the modern society where people are trying to earn money by dubious means, this lady has sacrificed her life-long savings for the cause of the community.

Goes to show even begging can be lucrative. In any case, she earned the money the hard way, it is her money and she is entitled to give to any cause dear to her. God will bless her immensely.

    Such a great gesture..

But I feel bad for the woman, who does not know how the sickalrs made temple hundis as funding Bhagya schemes, someone's pilgrimages etc.
Ideally this money should be spent for temple maintenance or feeding devotes, but we all know how the state stopped temple money from going to hindu schools. That is the state of affair if hindus continue to vote for utterly communal and anti-hindu sickalrs

This is really a great news and I am fortunate to be in the times of Sita Lakshmi. Her selflessness, devotion to what she believed, resorting even to begging (asking for alms) for the cause considered pious and noble by her.

Though on the face of it, it looked begging, she has by her noble objective gave an opportunity to each and every one who gave her money, to receive the blessings of the God. It is immaterial which god or which religion.

We come across, occasionally. such type of people in all walks of life and in all religions. It looks as though God sends them to remind the people who are too pre-occupied with their personal agendas to spare some thought about others and the Society.

    Pranaam to Sita Lakshmi

It is stated that in addition to pension, she has been taken care by temple authorities. It is stated that she was moved by the temple authorities' kindness that made her to donate. Anyway, it is to be greatly appreciated.

It shows that there is a lot and lot of goodness prevails among us. People of helping nature have given money, some more and some less, to this poor, old woman. Not only this example but there are many, many other examples show that a large section of our society is having people with large heart and they donate generously. May their cult increase and the needy receive the much needed help. Thank you and God bless each and every one of us.
