Bengaluru: DySP Ganapati suicide - inquiry commission enraged at police dereliction of duty

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Nov 22: The inquiry commission headed by retired Justice K N Keshavanarayana, which is probing the case of suicide committed by deputy superintendent of police, M K Ganapati, expressed strong reservations about the lax approach of the police in probing such a serious case. It pinpointed a number of follies committed by police personnel involved with the case and sought answers.

On Tuesday November 21, Madikeri town station police circle inspector, P I Mdappa, appeared before the commission for inquiry. The commission, which grilled Medappa for six hours, recorded his statement.

M K Ganapati

The commission posed questions to Medappa from several angles. It wanted to know from him how did he conclude it to be suicide before even opening the door of the room in which Ganapati was staying. It wanted to know from him why forensic science laboratory staff were not summoned before opening the door of the room. "Why CCTV footage of Vinayaka Lodge in which the deceased police officer stayed, was not verified? You took into possession purse, pen and other things in the possession of Ganapati. Why was his cellphone not seized? Why was the clamp of the room door not sealed?," it wanted to know.

The commission expressed the view that because of these serious lapses, suspicions have arisen about the investigation relating to this case.

Where is the justice for thousands of Catholics suffered by his brutality? If someone really killed him, he/she should be punished. But at the same time, justice should be done for all. There shouldn't be double standard in a democratic country. Commission should understand that not many people mourn for his suicide and they should make Church attack as part of their investigation. There must be a invisible hand for his suicide. That invisible hand was the broken hand of crucifix at the Adoration Monastery at Kankanady, Mangalore. HE is one of the witnesses.

The enquiry wouldn't be complete unless and until the commission probes the dubious and biased role of the deceased police officer and his use of brutal, ruthless and inhuman on unarmed silent protesters in the aftermath of the infamous Church Attacks in Sept 2008 in our peaceful city of Mangalore. Also investigate the angle whether there was pressure from the then powers that be for unleashing unwarranted action and high handed behaviour on the part of the Police Officer who since hanged himself in a hotel room in Madikeri, on innocent citizens silently protesting the cowardly act by antinational goons

Very good questions by the inquiry commission . I wonder how they could ask such questions when a police officer on duty will rush to see if his fellow officer hanging on rope is alive or not . The police officer on duty will rush to the spot and break open the door to see whether the so called victim is still breathing and why the officer on duty will call forensic team at that moment .
I think there is political pressure to prove something which is not true.

Sampath, If your family was beaten by same Ganapathy in temple, you and like minded would have had different opinion of Ganapathy! I guess on a long run he was mentally disturbed by the cries of innocent women and nuns inside the church! His master is gone bit early! Sampth, if you get time please watch the brutal video clip of Ganapathy and his mates brutality!!! Your BJP lost it for allowing attack on churches by Sanghi's and well supported by local daily with saffron glass and editorial! Shame!!
