Belagavi: DySP case - BJP demands George's resignation again on doctor's statement to CBI

Belagavi, Nov 20: Opposition BJP members, led by former Chief Minister and Opposition leader in the Assembly Jagadish Shettar, staged a protest in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly on Monday over the reported statement by Dr Shailaja to the CBI, which is probing the alleged suicide of DySP M K Ganapathi that she worked under pressure from the State Government while conducting the post-mortem on the deceased body.

Shettar, who raised the issue in the Belagavi Suvarna Vidhana Soudha on Monday, demanded that Bengaluru Development Minister K J George, who served as the Home Minister when Ganapathi committed suicide, must resign as minister as the Doctor who conducted post-mortem has claimed that she was pressurised by the State Government.

Home Minister B Ramalinga Reddy, who intervened as BJP members vehemently demanded the resignation of George, said CBI has taken up investigation of the case and therefore there was no point in rushing to judgement on the issue until the CBI completed its report in three months as directed by the Supreme Court.

Shettar, however, contended that the Government was trying to hush up the case.

Reddy countered the BJP leader by pointing out that the CBI was a Central agency under the direct control of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi even though the Home Minister was Rajnath Singh and wondered would anybody believe that a minister in a Congress government can dictate terms to CBI, especially when the investigation was taken up after Supreme Court’s direction.

Meanwhile, Opposition JD(S) members too trooped into well of the House and demanded that Speaker K B Koliwad should allow party members to speak on issues related to farmers and north Karnataka.

As House was not in the order, the Speaker adjourned the House for 10 minutes.

BJP members called off their protest when the House met again after the Speaker promised that the issue would be discussed separately.

Yeah CBI should also probe the dubious and biased role of the deceased police officer and his use of brutal force on unarmed silent protesters in the aftermath of the infamous Church Attacks in Sept 2008 in our peaceful city of Mangalore. Also investigate whether there was pressure from the then powers that be for the ruthless and high handed behaviour on innocent citizens silently protesting the cowardly act by antinational goons.

MOST OF PEOPLE INCLUDING DOCTORS WILL BE UNDER PRESSURE WHILE WORKING ON SENSITIVE ISSUES. IT DOESN'T MEAN THAT GEORGE IS CULPRIT. ENQUIRY IS IN PROGRESS. CHADDIS HAVE NO RIGHT ASK THE RESIGNATION. IF THEY SO KEEN, LET THEM ASK THE RESIGNATION OF HARYANA CM/CENTRAL HM.
