Modi, unlike Manmohan, is not a nominated PM: Nitish Kumar

Patna, Nov 18 (DHNS): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday continued to sing paeans to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said he was not a "nominated PM" unlike his predecessor Manmohan Singh.

This is for the first time in recent years that Nitish, in an uncharacteristic manner, has taken a jibe at the former PM.

"Narendra Modi is a democratically elected Prime Minister, who has reached the top executive post after proving his mettle as Gujarat Chief Minister. The present dispensation is not like the previous regime where someone was nominated as PM while the leader (wielding power) was somebody else," said Nitish.

The JD(U) leader made these scathing observations at a programme organised by a private TV news channel here in the State capital. Giving his opinion on the Gujarat poll outcome, he reiterated that the BJP will not only win comfortably, but its result will be better than that of the 2012 Assembly polls there. "Gujarat is the State which has given this country a leader like Narendra Modi as Prime Minister. There is an emotional attachment of every Gujarati with his leadership. So mark my words, contrary to media projection (of Congress), the BJP is heading for a landslide in Gujarat," Nitish continued to shower praise on his new-found ally.

No PM aspirations

To a specific query, "Till Modi is there, how could his dream of becoming PM be fulfilled," Nitish retorted: "I never aspired to be Prime Minister. I know my limitations. Serving Bihar is also akin to serving the country. I am happy where I am, and don't give much credence to media speculation."

Replying to Bihar-born actress Neetu Chandra's suggestion for a Film City in the State, Nitish said, "A Film City is being developed in the foothills of Rajgir. Besides, a cricket stadium is also coming up in Rajgir, where international matches can be organised."

At one time, he was the poster boy of Indian politics. Not only did he slay the villain of Bihar’s “jungle raj” in 2005 by rounding up lawless elements after winning an election and launching social and economic development projects, he also scored another resounding electoral victory in the company of a new set of friends, including the “villain”, in 2015.

It appeared at the time that he could do no wrong. So much so that he was seen as a possible prime ministerial candidate of the “secular” front.

But, then, the rise and rise of Nitish Kumar came to an abrupt halt. He remains Bihar’s Chief Minister, but the halo round his head has frayed.

The reason is not only his switching of friends in what is seen as an exercise in crass opportunism, but also his pursuit of policies which are out of sync with the modern world and threatens to reinforce Bihar’s reputation for backwardness by turning the entire state into a virtual dehat or village.

Nitish Kumar must have thought, therefore, that the time was ripe for him to up the ante on the caste issue if only to let the BJP know that he cannot be marginalised as the BJP has been tending to do since tying the knot with the Janata Dal (United).

But, whatever his intention, Nitish Kumar cannot but be aware that his position is much weaker now than when he was in the “secular” camp. Nor is there any chance that he will regain his earlier status any time in the near future.

The fall and fall of Nitish Kumar is forced for this critics?

In Hindustan i know one place called Nagpur..., the place where the un-elected & the un-electible publicly claim that and I quote - "We send 'signals' to government, hold no remote control: RSS" (those who interested just google it & see..., just for academic interest)

no need to speculate who nominate who..., or who is/are puppets ....!!!

By the way - the scholarly class & intellectually ability of Shri MMS is thousand times ahead of any other noise making drum beaters of the day..., which every real & secular thinking Proud Hindustani can vouch for..,

Such a fool is this Nitish Kumar, let me remind him that Manmohan Singh was the RBI Governor, he is educated from a Reputed college from Harvard, He talks less and works more, he is does not tell lies, he holds a genuine degree, he has not left his wife, he spoke truth of his married life.

A man who back stabbed millions of voters is very dangerous to democracy. One fine day he will not hesitate to ruin his own master to whom he is praising now. What does he know about an intellectual Dr. Manmohan Singh ? It is like an iron smith evaluating a diamond. A betrayer has no right to speak against our ex Prime Minister.

Manmohan Singh was a PM, but his contribution to the country is CWG, 2G, COAL-G, Adarsh G... etc.. etc... Only many countless scams & corruption. But he has made his ministers come out of Poverty in a span of 10 years. Garibi hataao slogan successful for his Ministers.
Public never knew he was a PM, he came into the picture only during 2014 aggressive election campaigning of MODI.

You are 100% right. Mr MM Singh is a highly educated, intellectual, well experienced dignified person who has no dirty back ground. The most appreciable thing is he is a down to earth man. Very rare people has that character. For some people a precious diamond looks just a glittering stone. Only a qualified one can recognize its true shine. He doesnt speak much like some dirty politicians but whatever he speaks the words has the value.
