'Padmavati' row: Karni Sena threatens to chop off Deepika Padukone's nose

Kota (Rajasthan), Nov 16 (PTI): The controversy over Bollywood film 'Padmavati' took an ugly turn today with a senior functionary of the protesting Shri Rajput Karni Sena threatening actor Deepika Padukone with physical harm if she incited public sentiments.

Referring to the nose chopping of 'Surupnakha' in the epic Ramayana, Karni Sena leader Mahipal Singh Makrana said that while Kshatriyas respected women, if the film was not banned and Padukone does not stop inciting sentiments with her provocative language, the Rajputs will not lag behind in acting.

Rajputs would not lag behind in pursuing the way Lakshmana acted in the Ramayana, he said hinting at the Surupnakha nose chopping episode.

He asked why was Padukone, who has the citizenship of Denmark, speaking such provocative language?

Makrana claimed that a cinema hall in Kota was rampaged as a result of such provocative language.

"Shri Rajput Karni Sena has now just conveyed a lesson to Deepika Padukone to stop making provocative statements or face the result," Makrana said.

Padukone had reportedly said that nothing could stop the release of the film and that India had regressed as a nation.

The Karni Sena activist said that when a movie like 'Bahubali' can earn crores showing the valour of 'kshatriyas', then why people want to cash-in on films presenting wrong facts.

"Who are the people behind movies like Padmavati and are investing their money in such movies," he said in a press conference.

The activists also submitted memorandum to Kota IG Vishal Bansal and demanded withdrawal of cases against the six persons held for vandalising a cinema hall.

Meanwhile, former MP and member of Kota royal family Ijyaraj Singh, in regard to the release of Padmavati, issued an appeal for respecting the sentiments of Rajput community.

In a press note released here today, Ijayraj Singh said the movie Padmavati is reported to have screened some scenes that are against the glory of the Rajput community.

Distortion of historical facts in the movie has hurt the public sentiments, he said.

Rs 5 crore bounty on Bhansali's, Deepika Padukone's heads announced

Lucknow, Nov 16 (IANS): A Meerut resident from the Kshatriya community on Thursday announced a bounty of Rs 5 crore on the heads of film director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and actor Deepika Padukone for "wrongfully portraying" queen Padmini in their coming film 'Padmavati'.

Thakur Abhishek Som of Sardhana Chaubisi, who claimed affiliation to the Samajwadi Party, said the Kshatriya community will not tolerate wrongful portrayal of the queen and meddling with its rich heritage.

Claiming that his political affiliations had nothing to do with his stand, Som warned that even Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not be able to save the Bollywood film maker and the actor.

Demanding a ban on the movie, Som told the media that it would be better if Deepika Padukone left the country or else her head will be chopped off.

"I am making this declaration on behalf of the Kshatriya Samaj," he said.

He accused Bhansali of lacking knowledge about history and that he was only interested in Box Office profits even if it meant meddling with history.

Som said he was ready to face the consequence of his stand on the issue.

    Deepika to Soorpanaka?!!!

Rajpoot's & Kshatriya 's have long & proud history of saving Indian culture & it's heritage against foreign invasion. They preferred to be get killed by fighting then surrender to enemy by converting!!!

We should give major credit to those warriors, who fought with their lives to save our culture, which we all are proud of today!!!

People associated with film industry have habit of giving provocative statements to make their film controversial & in news, because they know people get attracted towards the film, if it is laced with controversy!!!

With this kind of free publicity and controversy Padmavati will be super duper hit.

Sanjay Leela Bansali and Deepika should personally thank Karni Sena for films box office success.
