Wilson Olivera Nite enthralls music enthusiasts in Kuwait

Kuwait, October 21: Shirva Welfare Association Kuwait (SWAK), under the presidentship of Alban D'Souza, organized ‘Wilson Olivera Nite’, a Konkani musical extravaganza on Friday, 20 October at the American International School, Kamel Al Rayes Auditorium, Maidan Hawally, here.

The melodious event featured variety of lively enthralling melodious songs contributed by visiting singers Wilson Olivera, Babitha Pinto, Joseph Mathias. Music was rendered by Kiran Gonsalves, Raj Gopal and group Kuwait. They were supported by Ace compere Ronald Olivera and popular local singers. Foot-tapping dances and rib-tickling comedy skits were performed by professionals.

 

The musical evening began with the prayer song 'Namo Bapa' by 'Sangeet Sardar' Wilson Olivera and group followed by instrumentals from music director Kiran Gonsalves and team. Compere of the evening Ronald Olivera with his superb punch of compering entered the stage and introduced the musicians and artists after the formal welcome.

The gathered music-lovers enjoyed every moment of the event. The evening was filled with superb soul stirring music, songs, style and performances by visiting artists to the tune of music director Kiran and team. The stage was set alight by the melodious numbers of versatile singers Wilson Olivera, Babita Pinto, Joseph Mathias along with local singers Gulf Voice of Mangalore winners of 4 seasons GVOM Joyline Gonsalves, GVOM Morvine Quadras, GVOM Orson D'Souza, GVOM Gladys Lorena, Sara Lobo and Ashok. They rocked the stage with choicest selection of energetic Konkani songs. The music mood started with Konkani solo and duet songs Tumcho Mhaka Ugdas Aailo, Muklea Gatie Thavun, Yore Tum Yore Moga, Kenna Kenna, Channeachi Raat, Kitlexeo Rathi and Tum Chedum Konnachem.

After the first half session President Alben D'Souza welcomed the gathering with his presidential welcome speech. Chief guest, spiritual director of SWAK Fr Noel D'Almeida was escorted to stage by vice president Clifford D’Souza and honoured with flower bouquets. Addressing the gathering, he thanked everyone and SWAK for organizing this mega event and all the supporters who contributed to make this event a successful one. Visiting artists, musicians, media personals, sponsors and SWAK Shirva representative Melwyn Aranha were honored with flower bouquets and mementos by Fr Noel D'Almeida, president Alban D'Souza and vice president Clifford D’Souza.

A souvenir was released to mark the event by Fr Noel D'Almeida, president Alban D'Souza, general secretary Regina Serrao and designer in-charge Alwyn D’Souza. A video on ‘Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre’ was presented by Steevan Misquith. Committee members were called to the stage with honour for a group picture. Fr Blany Pinto was felicitated with flower bouquets.

The era of music continued with mind blowing songs Konkangaar, Sathra Sampon Attra, Xandnem Udela, Manasa, Mhaka Tujea Khatir, Tu voptai Zalyar, Gulfagar and Baile Baile. The audience were treated to a laughter feast by the comedians Lucy Aranha, Rajesh Fernandes, Alexander Fernandes, Sunny Menezes, Anil Menezes and Renny Menezes adding a generous dose of humour during the intervals that kept the crowd laughing till the end. The jokes were written and directed by Lancy Rodrigues and background scores were provided by Suneeth Noronha. Audience thoroughly enjoyed foot tapping dances by Jhankaar Dance Academy and Fusion Dance Academy.

Vice president Clifford D’Souza delivered vote of thanks. The musical show was well compered by Ace compere Ronald Olivera, the award-winning master of ceremony and the younger brother of Wilson Olivera.

The stage programme was compered by Susan Saldanha Shirthady. Soulful music was directed by well-known musician Kiran Gonsalves (Keyboard, Music Director) along with Raj Gopal Lead Guitar), Jackson D’Souza (Bass Guitar), Ronald Rodrigues (Acoustic Drums), Joy Fernandes (Rhythm Guitar), Joyston D’Souza ( Congo) and Aaron Gonsalves(Percussions). The stage, Sound and Lightings were provided by Waves Event Engineering (Anand D'Souza). The media presentation was done by Steven Misquith.

The proceeds of this event will be provided as charity to Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre, Pamboor – Udupi District (A residential school for the mentally challenged children), as a sincere gesture of SWAK, being a prelude to silver jubilee of the Association.
