Mangaluru, Oct 13: The police on Friday October 13 arrested an aide of underworld element Rashid Malbari.
Asami Mohammed Shameer alias Dami alias Deadly (27), hailing from Jokatte was arrested from Kallantadka, Puttur by a team led by inspector Rafiq K M of Mangaluru north division anti-rowdy squad.
Shameer, a rowdy, is wanted in five cases registered in Panambur police station on various charges including assault. He is also an accused in a theft case under Suratkal police station.
In 2013, the Panambur police had filed a case against Shameer and Rashid Malbari on charges of collecting hafta and issuing threats. Shameer was produced in court, but thereafter he went absconding without appearing in the court for further hearing.
On receiving information that Shameer was living in Kallantadka, Kabaka in Puttur, the Mangaluru north anti-rowdy squad hunted him down and arrested him on Friday.
