Kasargod: Scooter hits electric pole - student dies, lecturer injured

Kasargod, Oct 13: A student lost his life and a lecturer sustained injuries in an accident at Melbaramba, Olavangara here on Friday, October 13.

The deceased has been identified as Mansook (16), a PU student. Lecturer Abdul Noorani suffered injuries. The duo was going on a scooter when the lecturer lost control and rammed into an electric pole. Mansook, the pillion rider, who lost his life, studied in the same college where Noorani is teaching.





Taliparamba resident Mansook had arrived by train to Kasargod in the morning. Noorani was bringing Mansook to the college. Though Mansook who was seriously injured, was rushed to Mangaluru hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

The scooter lost control while trying to avoid collision with a speeding tempo approaching from the opposite direction.

Body of the deceased was handed over to the relatives after postmortem at Kasargod general hospital. A case has been registered at Bekal police station.
