Mangaluru Sep 25: Tulu Chalanachitra Nirmaparkara Sangha and others staged a protest at Prabhath theatre on Monday September 25, against the removal of the Tulu movie 'Are Marler' from the theatre and for giving slot to a Telugu movie.

‘Are Marler’ was released on August 11 at many places including Prabhath. The film produced by Bolli has been doing well in the box office and it was a great run for a Tulu film by any standards, said the protestors.

‘Are Marler’ was into 7th week and the collection was double the rent, they said.

‘Are Marler’ tars Arjun Kapikad and Nishmitha in lead roles and has been directed by Devdas Kapikad.

“The owner of the theatre has planned to remove the movie to accommodate a Telugu movie. The owner has no right to remove the movie, at least till the debt -sheet comes,” said the protestors.

Association President Rajesh Brahmavar, Director of Aremarler movie Devdas Kapikad, Ln Kishore D Shetty, Tulu director Vijay Kumar Kodialbail, Prakash Pandeshwar and others were present.

Theater owners are not charitable organizations. They too are smart businessmen.
This Tulu movie in question was released on August 11th. Now it is 26th of September. The owners have noticed the diminishing crowd. It is always a safe bet to accommodate a new movie which can run houseful for a few weeks further than continuing a one month old movie with diminishing crowd.

If our own people don't support who else will ? I can watch 10 Tulu movies than one Telugu movie because I don't understand the language. Looking forward to watch "Are Marler" in Canada. Looks like Theater owner is Marler.. Long live Tulu and Konkani.

here in Mumbai 'Sri Guru Narayan Yakshagana Mandali' is quit popular for using pure TULU language. Few years ago Kapikad and Padil team used come to Mumbai ( Matunga) for live show..But now a days We are Missing Chaparka like nataka team in mumbai.
