Kasargod: Sangh Parivar killing those who speak against communal forces, says Kanhaiya Kumar

Stephan Kayyar
Daijiworld Media Network - Kasargod

Kasargod, Sep 24: Former president of JNU students' union and leader of All India Students Federation (AISF) Kanhaiya Kumar on Sunday September 24 blamed the Sangh Parivar for the murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh and called upon the people to 'fight communal forces'.

Kanhaiya Kumar, who had grabbed headlines during intense protests in JNU last year, was speaking to reporters during his visit to Kasargod on Sunday September 24.

"India's biggest enemy is not Pakistan, but poverty and unemployment, but the government is trying to brush this fact under the carpet. The government is not responding to the problems existing within the country," he said.

"It is essential to fight against communal forces. We should not allow the seeds of communalism to take root in India's soil. I condemn the murders of journalists and writers. Journalist Gauri Lankesh's murder is still fresh in our memory. But just a few days after her murder, another journalist and his mother were killed in Punjab. Pansare and Kalburgi were murdered only because they posed challenge to the communal forces, and no other reason. They were not killed because of any political rivalry," he said.

Blaming the Sangh Parivar for the above murders, he said, "Sangh Parivar is killing anyone who raises voice against communal forces. It is necessary to fight against communalism. All parties should join hands to defeat such forces."

Urging youngsters not to fall prey to fake news, he said, "Today lots of youngsters are getting entrapped in new media which are spreading false and fake news. This signals a dangerous trend in the country. There is a conspiracy to lure youths in the wrong path. Youngsters should be able to understand this."

Kanhaiya Kumar was accorded a warm welcome in Kasargod. State revenue minister E Chandrashekaran, CPI district secretary Govindan, CPI state committee member K V Krishnan, Prabhakar Rao, Radhakrishna Perumbala, Karnataka state committee member Dr Srinivas Kukkilaya, CPM district committee member C H Kunhambu and others were present.

Kanhaiya was taken in a bike rally from Kasargod new bus stand to Kottachery, Kanhangad.

The police deployed tight security during Kanhaiya's visit.

Unemployement & Poverty are enemies agreed. Please come out with something concrete. How do you want to tackle this problem?. Any constructive idea/advice. Any out of the Box thinking?. Going by the media report, Rahul Gandhi went to US to study about Robotics & automation. Robotics & automation are being invested heavily by advanced countries these days. China for example is investing in robotics to offset the effects of aging population. I dont know how RAGA proposes to implement automation if his party comes to power. Robotics, Automation and employment work on inverse proportion. on the the one side India faces the problem of a burgeoning population on the other side there is threat of Job losses on account of Automation in days to come. If we do not control our population in this scenario, unemployment will become more rampant. Vote bank politics does not allow punitive measures for population control. whichever the party comes to power if they do not extrapolte the situations years ahead the country will be doomed.

    @Rajesh,
Just recall how was Indian before May 2014. Modi put many restrictions financial transactions and he made demonetization, in result middle class and poor people suffered and lost everything. People are not getting new jobs and losing existing jobs. Real estate, informal sector, small business and small industries everything collapsed. People will not forgive Modi and he will not be elected for next time sure. Remove the restrictions of financial transactions, allow to circulation at least some black money and give social security. Market will grow and economy will boost. When the middle class people get some money, poor people will get jobs and their condition will also improved. Removing Modi from the PM post will solve India's 75% problems.

Fighting for survival??? Congress has won the election in 2004 & 2009 under Rahul, Sonia's leadership. BJP was kept out from the power for 10 long years. Now Modi has won one election in 2014 by fake promises, do you think other parties will become irrelevant and BJP will win another 5 elections??? Only 31% people voted for BJP and 69% people voted against Modi. Wait and watch in 2019 BJP will washout because of Modi's blunders.

you'd know what I'm saying if you sat down and calculated how long it really takes for a phd.

    after class 10
    2 years of pre uni,
    3 years bachelors
    2 years masters
    2 years Mphil
3-4 years phd (maybe a year more, if you're looking at a solid thesis.)

Let me know if you know anyone who received a phd at 22.

Plus your definition of success maybe to have a ton of money. My definition, if you really care, is when children grown into adults with the ability to critically analyse. Very few in my generation had that chance, but i hope every student gets it in the future.

Critical thinking is important. otherwise, we'll only be mindless followers.

All can talk about the problems, but Modi has talked about solutions during 2014 and he got elected. Whether he delivers or not is a different thing and will be decided by people.
