Amit Shah deposes in favour of Maya Kodnani in 2002 case

Ahmedabad, Sep 18 (IANS): BJP President Amit Shah appeared before a special Sessions Court here on Monday in the 2002 Naroda Gam case in which 11 persons were killed and said the key accused and former Gujarat minister Maya Kodnani was with him when the crime took place.

Shah was summoned by the court after Kodnani claimed to have failed to get the BJP chief to depose as a witness in her favour despite repeated attempts. She submitted that she was unable to find Amit Shah or his address to issue the summons.

As many as 14 witnesses have deposed and 13 have been examined. She is among the 82 accused in the case.

The incident occurred on February 28, 2002, a day after a coach of the Sabarmati Express train was set on fire at the Godhra railway station leaving 57 Hindus dead.

Naroda Gam is close to Naroda Patiya where 97 Muslims were killed on the same day in which Kodnani was convicted in 2012 for life imprisonment.

Deposing in the court of Justice P.D. Desai on Monday, Amit Shah stated that Kodnani was with him in the Assembly and later at the Civil Hospital at Sola where the bodies of the Godhra train victims were brought.

Shah said he had gone to the Sola Civil Hospital since it fell under his constituency.

Speaking in defence of the former minister, Amit Shah submitted to the court in Gujarati: "Mayaben Kodnani was not at Naroda Gam but at the State Assembly at 8.30 am. From 9.30 a.m. to 9.45 a.m., I was at the Civil Hospital and I met Maya Kodnani there."

He added that Kodnani was consoling families of those killed in the Godhra attack when he reached there.

Kodnani, who was a minister in 2002 in the Gujarat government led by Chief Minister Narendra Modi, wants to prove that on the day of the Naroda Gam killings she was not at the site of the crime.

    Shame again Doctor Shah,
This is the limit of your cunningness...
She was wielding the wrath and you have opted to opt her out...
Men may ignore... But God will never forgive you...

Kodnani has been convicted and sentenced to 28 years in jail in the Naroda Patiya riot case, which led to the death of close to 100 Muslims. She was sentenced in 2012 and granted bail in 2014, after she claimed she was very unwell.
Naroda Gam is one of the nine major 2002 communal riot cases that were investigated by the Supreme Court-appointed SIT. Eleven Muslims were killed in the Naroda Gam area on February 28, 2002, a day after the Godhra train incident. Witnesses have alleged in court that Kodnani led the rioters who attacked Naroda Gam on the morning of February 28, 2002.
A total of 82 persons are facing trial in the case.
Kodnani, who was an MLA in 2002, was made a junior minister in then chief minister Narendra Modi’s government in 2007.
She was out on bail since 2014 citing health reasons. Now the BJP government is looking to overturn conviction into permanent bail.
The BJP is deliberately misleading the court using its political influence, muscle and money power to provide her 'clean chit' before the Gujarat assembly elections.
If Kodnani indeed the assembly how did Amit Shah knew her presence is at sharp 8:30 A.M?
If she is present did she has punched the time sheeting?
Did speaker has registered her presence at the same time quoted by Amit Shah?

If Kodnani is out gets 'clean chit' even after the involvement of 97 peoples murder, then it should be considered Indian Justices system is dead for ever. The only hope for the justice will be delivered by God.

WHATS THERE TO QUESTION. May be later say that the gujrat riots didnt took place just like advani with babri demolition. Narendra modis cabinet even ready to investigate an intercaste marriage held in kerala to clear the doubt of missuse but gujrat massacre is not a significant case here for them. Modi govt should start NIKHA INVESTIGATION AGENCY and CATTLE INVESTIGATION AGENCY and also TALAQ INVESTIGATION AGENCY urgantly but not and human life lost incident investigation agencies. ITS ANIMALS ARE LUCKY TO GET JUSTICE BUT NOT 2000 HUMAN LIFE LOST IN GUJRAT MASSACRE

It's a shame that BJPee was unable to find better leaders for the country than the Shah-Modi Jodi. Maya Kodani should be punished severely so that it serves as a lesson for others. ..?????
