Bengaluru: Poll fever rises - Congress challenges BJP for public debate on corruption

Bengaluru, Sep 16: Next year’s crucial assembly poll battle in Karnataka is already getting hot. While local leaders from BJP, Congress and JD(S) were so far busy in slanging matches with each other, BJP National President Amit Shah and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi had unleashed the fusillade during their recent visits to the State.

Now, it is the turn of AICC General Secretary in-charge of Karnataka K V Venugopal to challenge BJP for a public debate on the issue of corruption in the Government.

Venugopal has asked the BJP to fix the venue, the date and time for the debate, if it accepted the challenge for a public debate.

The AICC General Secretary, who chaired series of meetings of various wings of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) in Bengaluru on Saturday, said there was no substance in allegations made on corruption in the State Government by BJP National General Secretary in-charge of State Muralidhara Rao and added that he was ready for the debate with the BJP on corruption.

A few days ago, the State unit of the BJP has decided to prepare a “charge sheet” about “corruption scandals” of the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government and distribute it across the state.

Venugopal instructed leaders and the head of the media wing of the party to activate the social and digital media of the party to reach out to the public on various pro-poor policies implemented by the Government.

He told party leaders to not to refrain from issuing statements rebutting charges made by the BJP and JD(S) leaders on corruption in the government.

The Congress leader also said there was no difference of opinion between KPCC President Dr G Parameshwara and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Both leaders would collectively work during the 2018 election and bring the party back to power, Venugopal said.

Dr Parameshwara too denied having any rift with Siddaramaiah.

Gauri killers will be nabbed in few days

On the murder of journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh, Venugopal said the killers would be nabbed in a few days.

The BJP leaders have no moral right to speak on killing of the journalist.

BJP leaders had not even attended the funeral ceremony Gauri Lankesh, he said.

No party in India is clean when it comes to the corruption. Perhaps one of the reason is weakest judiciary system which equally enjoyed by all the political class due to delay in justices.
This is the reason 16th Lok Sabha election seems to have brought in the highest number of leaders with criminal records to the Indian Parliament. Party-wise, the largest 98 or 35 percent of the 281 winners from the BJP have in their affidavits declared criminal cases against themselves. six of the 37 winners (16 percent) from the AIADMK, 15 of the 18 winners (83 percent) from the Shiv Sena, disclosed criminal cases against themselves.
It should be noted that before 2014 elections BJP has mobilised anti corruption crusader Anna Hazare and promised the nation 'corruption free India' and will bring the 'black money' in 100 days.
In reality BJP had protected every Chief Minister who are embroiled corruption. In Karnataka BJP has renominated former CM Yeddyurappa who has taken mining kickbacks and denotification know on bail from jail.
If BJP has really wanted to work for the betterment of the nation why PM Modi still retain corrupt leaders?
For Congress instead of mudslinging on corruption, they should raise the issues and question the BJP on 'development' from its own manifesto. It should make awareness among the citizens of India especially poor who is the biggest voters.
BJP should also note that PM Modi is the first administrator who runs from the debate and opt only for 'man ki baat'.
The BJP has already know it can't defend itself on corruption or development issues and always engage the nation in the communal issues which is only its survival.

Why don't you include scams of BJP as well. Vyapam scam, Vasundhara Raje's scams, Raman Singh's scams, Arun Jaitley's scams, Bellary Reddy's scams, Jail CM Yediyurappa's scams, Demonitisation is baap of scams. These are just few. No doubt congress is corrupt but to give clean chit to BJP is job of hypocrites. In corruption and caste politics, both Congress and BJP goes hand in hand. Why Vadra is not arrested so far? Is it because he has close connections with Adani who is financing BJP??? Why the government has failed to bring down prices? It's all mismanagement of economy. When the finance ministry is with corrupt lier, you cannot expect anything better. Just go back and look at the dharna by BJP for price rise. Now why BJP silent on price rise???
