Abu Dhabi: KCF celebrates Independence Day

Abu Dhabi, Sep 6: Karnataka Cultural Foundation (KCF) Abu Dhabi, a well-known organization respected for its tireless social welfare works, organized Independence Day celebration programme on the theme ‘Azadi Sangama’ recently at Arab Udupi restaurant. The event was filled with much fanfare and participation of dignitaries from all walks of life.

The programme started with a prayer to the almighty led by Sayed Pookoya Thangal Misbahi from Indian Cultural Foundation (ICF) followed by the Quran recitation from Hafil Saeed Haneefi.

KCF Abu Dhabi, Knowledge Cell president Kabeer Bayambady welcomed the gathering. He presented KCF and its core achievements in his welcome note, mainly helping poor and disable expatriates, contributing for the betterment of poor’s and orphans by building houses, education aid etc. He mentioned that KCF also focuses on imparting religious values within expatriates by conducting seminars and highlighted KCF- Education Projects in the areas of north Karnataka.

Inaugurating the event, Hameed Parappa, secretary of Indian Cultural Foundation (ICF), greeted the gathering on India’s 71st Independence Day, and said, “The beauty of India lies in its secularism, but a shadow of insecurity is rising within Indian minorities.” He also reminded the farewell message of outgoing Indian former president Hamid Ansari that minorities are feeling insecure. He also expressed his concern on the criticism of Hamid Ansari by several members of ruling parties. “Instead of taking proper measures to eradicate the problem, most of them dragged the issue out of proportion,” he said.

In his presidential address, Karnataka Cultural Foundation UAE president Hameed Saadi recalled the sacrifice of freedom fighters, who united regardless of religion, caste and creed for Independence. He said freedom fighters should be remembered to educate the youths about their sacrifice and values. He praised the generosity of rulers of UAE towards expatriates.

The guest of honor, treasurer of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha Yogesh Prabhu hailed KCF for organizing the programme which build’s patriotism. He applauded the efforts rendered by KCF for the betterment of Indian society.

Chief guest of the event, general secretary of Sunni Student Federation national committee and member of Karnataka Haj Committee KM Siddeq Montugoli said, “Love towards nation is a part of faith therefore it’s our duty to celebrate the Independence Day. The government should take necessary action to eradicate communal riots, rape, poverty, illiteracy and mob lynching etc. which are causing hindrance to the growth of India.”

Amani Ajjavara, president, KCF Abu Dhabi and Abdul Salam, secretary of Indian Social Center also put their view forward in the event. The guests of programme were felicitated by Hakeem Turkalige, Ibrahim Bright Marble and K H Mohammed Kunhi Saqufi. Dawood Master delivered KCF message for Independence Day. The national anthem was sung by Jabir Kattipalla and vote of thanks was rendered by N K Siddik Alike. Towards the end of programme, a pledge taking event was held, led by KM. Siddeq Montugoli.

Nasir Galimuka and I-Team members were behind the success of the function with their commendable efforts and well planned coordination.
