Mangaluru, Sep 3: "A person lives in the memory of the people when he does noble deeds in his lifetime. Sadananda Shetty, who has always been polite and honest in his personal and professional life, is a person without any enemies in real sense," said former union minister and MP M Veerappa Moily.

He was speaking at the 'Sadabhinandane' programme organized at Moodbidri near here on the occasion of 75th birthday of A Sadananda Shety, founder chairman of Shree Devi Education Trust and International Bunts Welfare Trust as well as chief patron of various prestigious sports organization, to felicitate him. The programme was organized by A Sadananda Shetty Felicitation Committee.

"Undivided Dakshina Kannada district has always been known as the hub of prestigious educational institutions. The legacy of this tradition, which was started by T M A Pai, is being carried forward by many including Sadananda Shetty. They have brought fame to our district," Moily said.

Chairman of Nitte Education Trust and chancellor of Nitte University, Dr N Vinaya Hegde, presided over the programme. District in-charge minister, B Ramanath Rai, minister, U T Khader, MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, chief whip of legislative council, Ivan D'Souza, chief whip of the opposition in legislative council, Capt Ganesh Karnik, MLAs, K Abhay Chandra Jain, J R Lobo and Mohiuddin Bava, former ministers, Krishna J Palemar and B Nagaraja Shetty, former MLA, Appanna Hegde, president of Qatar Tulukoota, Moodambail Raveesh Shetty, Aikala Harish Shetty who represented Mumbai Fans Club, litterateur, Erya Laxminarayana Alva, Mangaluru mayor, Kavita Sanil, Harikrishna Bantwal, chairman of A J Group of Institutions, A J Shetty, Prakash Shetty of Banjara Group, Sadananda Shetty's wife, Maina Shetty, chairman of Manipal Academy, Dr H S Ballal, Kishore Alva representing Adani UPCL, Mithun Rai, Dr Belapu Deviprasad Shetty, Kripa Amar Alva, managing trustee of Shastavu Bhoothanatheshwara temple, Vijayanath Vittal Shetty, M B Puranik, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, artiste, Vijay Kumar Kodialbail, K P Jagadish Adjikari and several other dignitaries were present.

Sadananda Shetty and his wife Maina Shetty were honoured on this occasion.

On this context, a work titled 'Sadabhinandane' containing life and achievements of A Sadananda Shetty, and English translation of Erya Laxminarayana Alva's Kannada work, 'Hindana Hejje', which has been translated into 'Footprint' were released.

Well-known sports organizer, Vijayanath Vittal Shetty, was honoured with 'Sports Plus' award. Prizes were given away to the winners of state level wrestling events held on Friday under the aegis of Bhoothanatheshwara Trust.

President of the committee, Dr M Mohan Alva, welcomed. Honorary president, K Amarnath Shetty, delivered introductory address. Kadri Navneet Shetty read out the citation. Sahil Rai and Nithesh Shetty compered the programme.

A beautiful portrait of Sadananda Shetty created by student of Shree Devi Collge, Shabari Ganiga, on canvass was presented by Shabari to Sadananda Shetty on the occasion.
