Mangaluru, Aug 21: District BJP Mahila Morcha staged a protest near DC office on Monday August 21, against chairman of Karnataka State Silk Marketing Board, T P Ramesh for his indecent behavior with a woman MLC during his participation in the Independence Day programme.
Addressing the protestors, district BJP Mahila Morcha president Pooja Pai said, ”We strongly condemn the indecent behavior by T P Ramesh, chairman of Karnataka State Silk Marketing Board during the Independence Day celebration at Madikeri. This obscene video where the chairman was seen touching the hands of woman MLC Veena Achaiah went viral, which led to discussion. Veena Achaiah too, in her statement said that she felt awkward when touched, but Ramesh stated that he treats Veena as his sister. This is not the first time Congress leaders are involved in such obscene behavior. Previous instances include Tanveer Sait found watching an obscene video at the Tippu Jayanthi programme and the Methi CD controversy. We condemn T P Ramesh behavior and demand his resignation.”
BJP spokesperson Sulochana Bhat said, “Congress is glorifying its real culture. All the people in the state have seen the indecent behavior of T P Ramesh during the Independence Day programme. What kind of message do you want to convey to the people by this behavior. Ramesh has stated that he treats her as his sister. Was it really required to touch her hand at the Independence Day programme? Earlier a woman kissed chief minister Siddaramaiah in a public programme and later he claimed she was like his sister. Is this how your government treats women? Congress government is known to harass women. DySP Anupama Shenoy was forced to resign, Mysuru DC Shikha, Koppal DC Tulasi Maddineni, ZP CEO Sri Vidya was transferred, recently when DIG Roopa raised the question on irregularities at Parapana Agrahara Jail, she too was transferred. The government needs to be ashamed of its high frequency harassment of women. CM Siddaramaiah did not take action against T P Suresh for his obscene behavior. Also, the fake case on denotification of land registered against Yeddyurappa as Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) is under the clutches of Siddaramaiah. We demand the resignation of T P Ramesh and his eviction from the party.”
BJP district president Sanjeev Matandoor said, ”This obscene behavior of T P Suresh has embarassed the entire state. Methi CD row and CM Siddramaiah kiss row are among the obscene behaviors shown by the Congress leaders. This reveals how they treat women with no respect and this portrays the culture of the present administration. People have lost faith in the government and we demand resignation of all those ministers previously involved in such obscene acts.”
