UP floods claim 69 lives; 20 lakh people hit in 24 districts

Lucknow, Aug 20 (PTI): With fresh flood-related deaths reported from across Uttar Pradesh, the death toll in the current wave of floods has risen to 69.

Over 20 lakh people have been hit by the floods in 24 districts of the state. "The death toll in the floods has reached 69 in the state, where 2,523 villages in 24 districts are flooded affecting a population of over 20 lakh," the relief commissioner's office said here citing a flood report compiled till yesterday.

It said 39,783 persons have take shelter in relief camps in the affected districts of eastern UP where there was no let up in flood fury as raging waters of the rivers emanating from Nepal caused havoc in vast swathes of human habitation.

Reports reaching here said Army choppers, NDRF and PAC (flood) jawans continued relief and rescue operations in the badly hit areas.

Release of water in the rivers emanating from Nepal and incessant rains impeded rescue work and evacuation of people to safer areas, they said.

20 companies of the NDRF, 29 companies of PAC (flood) along with two choppers of the Indian Air Force (IAF) and several columns of the Army personnel were on job to save lives and properties in the affected areas.

A Central Water Commission report here said that Sharda was flowing above the red mark at Palia Kalan and near the danger mark at Shardanagar while Ghaghra was flowing above the red mark at Elgin Bridge, Ayodhya and Turtipar (Ballia).

River Rapti was also flowing well above the red mark at Balrampur, Bansi, Rigauli and Birdghat (Gorakhpur), while Budhi Rapti was above the danger level at Kakrahi (Siddharth Nagar), rivers Rohin and Quano are flowing above danger mark at Trimohini Ghat (Mahrajganj) and Chandradeep Ghat (Gonda), it said.

During recently concluded Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, PM Modi has brought the issue 'Kabristan-Shmashana' . The ' Smashan ' controversy may have got the BJP unprecedented vote share electing the party with majority votes.

In reality what was wished in elections rally is now become reality. Unfortunately poor people lost life who don't even deserve it.

Ironically, CM Yogi has no courtesy to address the flood affected victims nor weakened and brain damaged children due to lack of oxygen in Gorakhpur hospital. Neither PM Modi who has more than 2919 crores of unused funds in his account.

His priority still remains to be cow slaughter issue, daily 'Agnipariksha' of Madrasa using patriotism issue and anti-Romeo.

This will be the result if communal government is projected as 'Good governance'.

It will torture our conscience, how the BJP rulers sitting at the royal seats at New Delhi enjoying the fun of " yoga " in the daily routine, their evil and ruthless action in blocking the funding of thousands of NGOs of India !. They were doing humanitarian services to the young and old, hungry -crying-naked and sick people. Since I have visited a few of those places of absolute suffering in India, saw their suffering and sickness; this totally insane-boorish and devilish action of the Central Government will not go unpunished.

The great Economist Arun Jaitly's excuse was that conversion is talking place through these NGOs. Which is better, feeding the hungry and giving them a new life, or trashing them to the streets to be exploited by the evil people and sleeping in the streets? This Government will be getting its due punishment in front of our eyes.

This type of mentality from few, bringing all this curse to many including innocents in the area. May be this just the beginning. Have pity on poor innocent people who died and their families. It is not be in UP only, tomorrow it may happen to us too. then you will not think about your own cow at home also for just one moment.

U.P. has more population that the country of Brazil which is the 5th largest country in the world. U.P is the very ideal RSS ruled State, none other CMs of the BJP ruled States have the Yogi dress, pure swami who was specially chosen by Amith Shaw/Modi to rule the largest populated model RSS State. Yogi's anti-minority statements were very harsh, but he was put into the seat. I pity the suffering people of U.P., but these tragedies upon the very typical BJP State is causing some big questions, why?
